It took me a while to get past the talk about Jamie Branch as I have been burned far too many times with modern jazz types who just don't cut the mustard (long list redacted). I also don't normally look at puff pieces on YouTube of performers explaining where they are coming from etc. However I did it here. I bought both of these from Bandcamp and later realised I'd got the earlier album from my dying daze on Emusic. Anyway strongly recommended in the main because it feels like a very live gutsy music where emotions are w-a-y more important than history or pose. Your milage may vary as ever.
Ah so you are one of those types I am working my balls off to support? Now it becomes obvious! (Big Joke Emoticon!!!) At least these days in the supposed flood of music it is possible to try before you buy. I spent most of my record buying life having to wedge out without hearing a note. Didn't stop me; but it did thousands of others.
Mal Waldron was an occasional member of and played on quite a few Embryo albums throughout the years. His compositions show up on them as well as live gigs he had done with them.
Here he is playing with them - joined by Charlie Mariano (who was married to Toshiko Akiyoshi. They had a daughter who is Monday Michiru).
Well, Maggi Payne is another one of those artists I'd forgotten how terrific she is, which made me to hunt a little further in the library. Thanks once again to @Brighternow for the introduction. I'll spend the morning remembering some other interesting folks as well.

Well, that last one went by too quickly and as I haven't played these since Nov/2017 they deserve another listen. I see I given them both the highest rating. Marcus Fjellström
Well, many Thanks to @higaru!!! My new additions since last time through (now 38 albums, not counting the folks he's introduced me to). They'll provide the soundtrack to this evening's Open House...on a random play for this first run-through so folks will get a broader sample (no live album either...it's an oldie but got missed last time through - however when it's time for folks to leave). Starting now.... Makunouchi Bento
Ctatic - Колискова Для Ворога | Lullaby For The Enemy released December 25, 2019
Today Kvitnu turns 13, and this time we decided to make a quite unusual release for our birthday. In September 2019 Ukrainian singer and veteran of Russian-Ukrainian war Anastasia Shevchenko (Стасік / Stasik) released her song “Lullaby for the enemy”. The frankness and true radicality of this song amazed us, and immediately after the video for this song came out, we (Kotra and Zavoloka) offered to Anastasia to make remixes to Lullaby, and Anastasia accepted our offer. . . .
- And a very merry Christmas to everyone . . . (in Denmark we celebrate on the 24.)
