13 years since the series started. Two years from vol 1 to vol 2, then 6 years to vol 3, which was 4 years ago.
I wonder if he is going to finish this series? If graphics could compel, the album art means he has to.
I wonder if he regrets committing to it?
Ambitious Lovers never finished their series of albums on the 7 deadly sins, leaving us only with Envy, Greed, and Lust. Murcof seems to have abandoned his series of albums that each begin with a letter of his name (Martes, Utopia, Remembranza, Cosmos...he announced the release of Oceano in 2008, I think, but it only emerged as a live tour?). So I expect to be disappointed in the case of Alva Noto, too, but will be delighted if he brings it to fruition.
2004 Chris Rowan & Lorin Rowan (without Peter) - Now & Then The first disc "Now" is new material recorded 2004 with supporting musicians including Phil Leah, David Grisman, Barry Sless, Mookie Siegel, Robin Sylvester, Richard Greene, Sally Van Meeeter - no specific information on instruments played or on which tracks.
Disc 2 "Then" is archive material and features guest appearances by Jerry Garcia, Bill Kreutzmann, Hal Blaine, Jim Keltner, Joe Osborne. There are four hidden live tracks on disc 2 (unlisted) from Fillmore West 2 July 1971 ft members of The Grateful Dead.
A lounge in the Poconos located just inside a Holiday Inn, 1973. The smoky haze clears to reveal a middle-aged couple on a one-foot high stage, prattling on about the weather or Watergate before launching into a serviceable cover of Burt Bacharach’s “Do You Know The Way To San Jose?” Tens of thousands of such combos littered restaurants, cruise ships, casinos, lobbies, and cocktail bars throughout the ’60s and ’70s, but far fewer cut a record worth buying from the stage, much less listening to on the home hi-fi. Gathered here are 14 lounge originals from across the entire easy listening spectrum. A spent matchbook’s worth of crooners, bossa nobodies, seafood jazzers, and Donca-Matic enthusiasts all in search of their ticket out of a red leather booth hell.
2009 An Angel Fell Where The Kestrels Hover ps Excellent, the bees just started up again in Lavender Buzz!! I just love that sound. Makes me think about sitting under the apple tree at blossom time. pss - bad apostrophe correction
There is a new Woody Shaw streaming app, with I think pretty much free stuff: https://woodyshaw.app/ Apparently more archival stuff to be accessed with a paid sub
Eta, not surprisingly, paid subscription to play more than 1 tune!
Pere Ubu’s earliest releases in the late ‘70s upended punk rock’s
simplistic howl. It rewrote Dylan’s paranoid visions of cold war and
political intrigue and introduced a band that would transcend genres and
rewrite the theory of rock music, ripping up the plan and re-collaging
it as they saw fit in subsequent years. Formed in 1975, their early
incarnations were captured a decade later on the seminal ‘Terminal
Tower’ an 11-track that brought together their early 45s and flipsides.
