Adam Rudolf's Go: Organic Orchestra & Brooklyn Raga Massive
- "A deeply attractive, aesthetically accessible, yet extremely complex tapestry of sounds, hues, and aural sensations. A major work that establishes the ground for infinite possibilities in improvisational interaction for an ensemble, as well giving flesh to an expansive musical language that edifies players and listeners equally." - Thom Jurek, AllMusic.com

Sielunmaisema translated from Finnish means a "soul-landscape, a particular place that a person carries deep in the heart and returns to often in memory.“ It can be described as a landscape that "hits you in the center of your chest, the one you that immediately feels like home." According to the linguist Viktorija Daujotytė "a perceived landscape becomes a soul-landscape or an image and language of consciousness. Landscape is a language formed by a specific place and its people, it is primal poetry preserving the oldest intertwining between nature and language."
Soul-landscape is related to questions of identity and place which resonate with two parallel cultural identities that I carry within - my native Lithuanian and later acquired American. My physical home keeps changing and the only thing that remains is music. In this case, the piece itself becomes an ideal soul-landscape reflecting a native environment as seen through the prism of four seasons.
How many summers does one need to live through to capture the very essence of it? Memory is inherently participating in the creation of a soul-landscape and there is nostalgia for the past as well as for the changing landscape due to global warming. What is remembered and deeply engraved in our mind often doesn't correspond with reality any longer. Only memories hold those freezing cold winters with -30 C temperatures or a gradual transition from summer to autumn.

Well, it wouldn't be a normal winter without a visit with the vinyl. As the days are getting longer I was looking to hear The Good Earth by Manfred Mann's Earth Band for some inspiration as I start to set up my seed starting table. I know it's early but there are some herbs I want to get started. I tried out the Garageband that came with this Mac and found it a lot easier to use than the last version I had, so I decided to add some others. The big benefit of this version is that I can start an album and then leave it in the background while I do other things on the computer and then wait to hear the tone arm lift and then flip the album over. Splitting the tracks even seems a lot easier. This could take forever now to get through the alphabet. Manfred Mann Chapter ThreeManfred Mann's Earth Band
Mescaliner(Limburg, Netherlands) is a rather reclusive band that plays a mix of post/prog/noise rock, melting styles into songs with unusual, sometimes math-like structures that can stretch from emotion-laden soundscapes to loud, strong guitar riffs, all within one song. nyp 2009 Eye 2012 Willow Spree 2014 Chapters of a Decade EP
ps - this has been one of those darn Hidden Track days, disrupting what's been a pretty enjoyable listen overall. I'm not sure why that bugs me so much but this last one has over 30 mins of blanknitude. - 3rd one, BTW
ps - Darned old brain doesn't remember lots of things these days. I'm sorry I forgot how great this album is and feel terrible I forgot who Mike Keneally and his bandmates are. I knew that at one time. Thanks to Discogs!
