Lee Michaels - Some Pop to Rock music from 1968 - 1974. Best known for his energetic virtuosity on the Hammond organ, the self titled album and Barrel still stand out as my favourites. Along with my vinyl, I had 3 of these on 8-track.
Leo Kottke 1969 - 1974 Another terrific guitar player from my vinyl years who also has a great warm recognizable voice. Greenhouse was the album that hooked me and for that will always be my favourite but there's been plenty of terrific albums over the years.
i always liked the few Laura Nyro tracks i had on samplers back in the day. Maybe it is not too late to catch up on her, so thank you for the recommendations!
@greg - It's never too late! I seem to be spending a good bit of my time revisiting some old favourites from my vinyl years. Here's one of those quirky voices that stood out for me. Leon Russell 1970 - 1975

I've been in a similar frame of mind. It's partly the time of year (academic year just done, grading just done) and probably partly the time of life, but I'm feeling kind of burned out on music discovery at the moment and spending a lot of time with things I have a long history with or was just kind of interested in years ago. A chunk of today was various parts of John Foxx's catalogue.
"Dos" by Malo from 1972. Malo were led by Jorge (brother of Carlos) Santana. Whilst this album has similarities to Santana albums of that period, the accent is more on the "Latin" and less on the "Rock" of Latin Rock.
Inspired by re-reading Audion #15 (July 1990!) and the review there. This is the self titled debut from the Belgian band Dragon. Originally 1976 but sounds earlier. Comparisons have been made with Iron Butterfly and Golden Earing but I like this more than either.
Andwellas Dream album "Love & Poetry" and the Andwella album "World's End". These are two of my favourite Psychedelic albums from the era.
The band was originally formed in 1967 as Andwellas Dream, shortening its name to Andwella in 1970 and finally disbanding in 1972.
AMG says "Andwellas Dream began in the late '60s as a heavy psychedelic trio, tapping into the multicolored imagery and fuzzy guitars of the era while remaining grounded by bandleader David Lewis' solid songwriting........While relatively obscure during their time, the band became highly regarded by psychedelia collectors and historians in years to follow"
An outstanding album of which AMG says "A much sought-after classic of U.K. underground progressive rock and psychedelia.....the album reached legendary status"
One of the many late 60s/early 70s albums that I would never have come across, if it wasn't for eMusic.
"The 1969 Demo Album" by Jungle.
Another one of those many albums of the era which I just can't understand wasn't so much more successful!
AMG says "This is one of those superobscure collector-type albums.....It's definitely an accomplished studio effort, with excellent recording and production. There are lots of really great swirling acid organ, good strong singing (sometimes harmonized), and some truly great isolated fuzz guitar breaks with some of the other guitar work approaching a jazzy flavor. The tunes are all originals, and while the lyrics have dated, the band still sounds great"
There are a number of different versions of the album cover (see the video below as an example) and it often goes under the simpler title of plain "Jungle".
I've now got this as an LP and CD. When I resurrected my LPs two Christmas' back i decided i'd like to have it on my iPhone too, so bought the CD for a ridiculously small amount from Amazon, less than downloading, with additional tracks too.

I particularly like the first and last tracks "Parte del Diá" and "Mirande Adentro"
