I initially got this because it was 1. Free and 2. saw that powellaw rec'd it and 3. saw that AmieStreet editors included a note about how they liked it ("A single from Kid Harpoon's most recent album of dark, orchestral folk that offers the melancholy "Once" and the anthemic "Late For The Devil."").
I figured all this would mean that if nothing else I'd make some rec $ to spend on something else later.
Just stumbled onto this guy. The first two records ("We Belong to the Staggering Evening" and "Sparkle in the Finish") are awesome. Just bought the third one but haven't downloaded it yet. Great songwriter with a seriously rockin' band, and all three are under $4.
Sweet! I RECed the Wildbirds & Peacedrums album when it was free and it's been sitting at the same amount for the last couple of months. Now I'm making money!
Earlier this evening, I taught three of my friends how to use Amie Street and all four of us got the new Vampire Weekend album for free. Is there any better site on the internet?
Also, Owen Pallett's Heartland is my favorite album of 2010 (so far).
(Is it just me or are people making these big proclamations earlier and earlier? Soon enough, every album is going to start coming out January 1st, just so it can be the first to be declared the best [so far].)
I got Heartland when it was still a worthwhile price (I've been looking forward to that album for awhile), but Laura Veirs was a bit out of my price range by the time I say it.
Where were you last night? Not a single REC on Amie Street. That's not like you. Especially with Vampire Weekend, Owen Pallett, and Laura Veirs all having new albums out.
A jazz guy moving into the ambient sound. I've been poking around through his music and finding some good stuff. If you're looking for an early morning album cheap, go pick it up.

Turns out it's actually pretty good.
Still free at the moment.
Kid Harpoon - Once
Wish I'd been around when it dropped. Endicott wins again.

I grabbed the Sonic Boom & Spectrum. I used to own it back in the day. It was nice to grab it again.
