About:
McCabe and Mrs. Miller is a collaboration between Victor Krummenacher (Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker, Monks of Doom) and Alison Faith Levy (Loud Family, The Sippy Cups, Mushroom). Digging at the roots of their rootlessness, these songs sweep out the dark corners of longing, regret, and desire with the intimate wit and wisdom of old friends.
I'll speak for this one as well, listening to it right now. Really nice low-key neo-folk, with the difference that the musicianship and vocals are superb. Not free anymore, but still a great listen.
I already own that Secret Machines album and grabbed it for free anyway so I could REC it. The Kevin Barker disc that just dropped sounds excellent, too. He's the guitarist for Vetiver - it's currently $1.43.
This is a pretty good lo-fi-ish album that's still free - somewhere I read something good about their 2009 album, and then found this 2007 one free at amie.
Here's an inspiring collection for your next church campfire singa-long: Wading through Rancid Offal by Amputated. I know I'll be humming the now classic "Uterus Swollen with Festering Putrescence" for the rest of the day.
Reckless Kelly Somewhere in Time slipped in last night while we were all sleeping off the Super Bowl, still >$5. Amie says the release date is tomorrow.
Weird - that Reckless Kelly has already been on Amie and the page shows me I've purchased it already, whereas Sofia Talvik's Blue Moon, also on the new release page today, also previously available and purchased by myself, does not tell me I've purchased that album, although it is in my Amie library. Wassup?
Reckless Kelly, Somewhere in Time is a new release, out on 2/9 according to their website. I assumed this was a pre-release. Good eye on the Sofia Talvik, since I did not have that already.
Well, Pilgrim, I got this album on Jan.12, as did the guy with the only Rec with a review at the bottom of the page. Maybe it was a really advanced advance release.
I could have gotten it cheaper but didn't jump on the Preservation Hall disc until the deluxe one hit $10. Listening to the samples, well worth it. Especially considering the 50% off sale, etc.

And I'll reiterate all of the RECs for that Barker album. Awesome.
I add my REC to Malachai, although it is over $3 now. Great stuff.

Very Fela influenced, and going for a little more than a buck!
I just got around to listening to ALBINO!, and I really like it. Wish there was more on AmieStreet.

I picked up both. Only listened to them each about 1 1/2 times, but so far I'm digging them.
