I picked up this new "post-punk" comp last night...looks good, and still under 5 bucks.
edit: I've had a chance to listen to this, and it's interesting if varied, lots of good stuff. I've always thought that "post-punk" is a pretty ridiculously broad category, taking in pretty much anything that came out after Sandinista and wasn't the Bros. Gibb. I do think the compilers of this volume had an ear out for things that sounded pre-techno, or electronica, or something...as if trying to draw some sort of natural evolution that I'm not sure is actually there. Anyway, of in over my head in terms of pop/rock history here...Will be interested to see what others think of this comp, here or elsewhere. Another reason to love Amie Street, at any rate....
New release by John Jorgenson ( ex-Hellecasters, Desert Rose Band, countless sessions) of his own gypsy jazz type quintet - One Stolen Night . This guy is really talented and worth a spin for guitar jazz fans especially, or LDJs (Latter Day Djangos).
Looks like Tunecore is taking a big sloppy dump all over Amie Street - I can hardly find the latest Crimson Razorback or Prose in Rosette releases among the deluge.
This should serve as a warning to those who complain when Amie Street has dried up!
I've seen one decent release in this dump - Bonobo's Blur EP. Just grabbed it for 76 cents. Samples were tres cool .
Otherwise I probably spent like 3 or 4 bucks yesterday picking up the new Efterklang, Decibully, Felix Cartel, and everything by Fang Island (they are really and truly fun and awesome).
Blur by Bonobo might be worth checking out at 19 cents a track.
Apparently he originally released the EP under the alias Lotus, but changed the name back. Bonobo is good chill music - check out the other albums - Dial M for Monkey is usually considered his best.
Weird days on Amie Street. I got lucky a day or two ago, Morgan Page popped up, free, and I noticed his other tracks sold pretty well. I rec'ed three tracks. Later that day, they changed the album to $5, and all the songs were at 98 cents. I immediately cashed out (in case someone noticed).
This makes up for another anomaly in the rec system. I grabbed Jeff Jacobson for free, it went up to 9 cents almost immediately, then back to free. My rec is stuck at 9 cents, even though the album is apparently a give-away now. I noticed it is free on his website, so maybe that is the case here as well.
The album being on special for $5 won't negatively affect the per track cash out price - in fact it almost guarantees that the track price will max out. I've had this happen on at about a dozen albums over the last year.
Those initially priced, then later free albums kinda suck, since they freeze the track payout amount at the price the track was at when they converted it. I've had all sorts of albums that would have gone high stall out at low payouts for this very reason. The thing to do in this case is to let it ride in hopes that the album stops being free and goes up a bit more in the future.
One way I did come out ahead was last summer with the Sony drop. A few albums were priced 99 cents. I bought and rec'd the tracks at free. Later, they adjusted the album prices to full price and all my recs immediately maxed out at 99 cents a track.
Good call on the The Last Electro-Acoustic Space Jazz & Percussion Ensemble - Miles Away (a mablib related Jazz project) and The Henry's - The Yearly Ears (comp distilled from their 3 late 80s albums, 2 of which originally appeared on Bar-none).
@luddite & frogkopf, thanks for the rec on The Last Electro-Acoustic Space Jazz & Percussion Ensemble the samples sound just perfect for this cold and rainy New England morning.
Weird. I was sure there was more than one. Maybe it's in a different spot. Jaga Jazzist was the artist of the week on AAJ last week, and there were a few things floating about with their name on it.

Highly recommended.

starting at 15 cents a track. I cannot imagine "beat master troy" being that popular. ever.
Seriously though, if anyone sees a diamond in the rough please let us know.

This isn't officially being released until late March. It's recorded live at Birdland 2009, and judging from the first 10 minutes, it's great.
Sorry dudes and dudettes, but I apparently snagged the last free copy. But it's still a great buy at a little over a buck.
Four of the songs were recorded on a Nintendo DS!

@daytripper - Nice find. Never really gave them a chance, but the samples sound pretty good for that price.
Also, new EP from Soundtrack of Our Lives.

In a different vein: Moon Duo - Escape. Suicide/VU inspired rock from side project of Wooden Shjips.
You can some free tracks on the AAJ site...

I noticed that on eMu recently, it is listed as TuneCore. I've had that comp for a long time, otherwise it is a great deal at 20 cents a track.
