My favorite recording that I have of his is his “Arpe Eolie” along with a wonderful book that’s nearly 200 pages. Those huge Aeolian harps (more than 20 feet high!) and gongs generating an almost electronic sound are incredibly breathtaking in their aural beauty. Also, a member of Gruppo di Improvvisazione di Nuova Consonanza.
Sorry to see this. He was a real inspiration in a lot of ways. I remember his visits to our house (my mother was friends with him) in addition to all of the great recordings he made and, of course, the radio shows. It’s funny that in the past few years I’ve often thought of him - most certainly because of his advanced age - but also, lately, in relation to a family friend who is only about a week younger than him. Nearly 99 years old and he still had a head full of fun ideas that went unrealized. People like him, wonderfully eccentric and just bursting with creative ideas, are the ones that bring such joy to my life. Let’s all keep staring with our ears.
Stunned to say the least, saw them when they just started in a very small club in London. Spirit of Eden is one of there best albums ever. I liked the fact that he just retired, he said that music wise all was done. RIP Mark
Rest in peace, Dick Dale. I got to see him on his "comeback" tour in 1993 and it was thrilling. The KIng of Surf Guitar has passed, I do not know that we will see his like again. And he once had a lion....
Davey Williams (1952 - 2019) Transmuseq was fantastic - as were a lot of the other projects he was involved in. Got to see him with LaDonna Smith a couple of times back in the 80s. I'd bring out some of the LPs if I hadn't just boxed them up and sent them away.

and I'm getting word of Alvin Fielder's death (by way of his wife) (1935-2019)
