@cafreema, Most of the stuff I'm hitting today are EPs but as a rule of thumb I play music all day long and only take breaks for conference calls (the benefit of working from home)...and on that note...
I liked To Swift Mars enough to grab this one from Amie Street just now.
@elwoodicious: I recognize most of those words as being part of the english language...
I gather just the first four tracks are worthwhile, so that's all I bought, but boy are those first four great. This is somehow even creepier than the Drift - I think it's the mix of Scott Walker with a bit of AOR sound...
One of the greatest musicians in the world, the idol of a legion of guitarists, guitarists and composers, mining Toninho Horta was in 1976, recording with Milton Nascimento in a studio in Los Angeles when Milton offered what was left of hours of tapes and studio for his friend. A unique opportunity to initiate what would become his first solo album. Tom did not waste that opportunity, just inviting Ronaldo Bastos to help in production. Land of the Birds was born - so named in honor of Tom his Gibson guitar model Birdland. Some sections were still recording in Los Angeles and over the following years in different studios between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The album was only concluded in 1979. Originally released on vinyl, Land of Birds has become a benchmark for many generations, combining classical repertoire of the composer and the participation of artists such as Airto Moreira, Raul de Souza, Wagner Tiso, Nivaldo Ornelas and Milton, among others.
And Wikipedia says:
Toninho Horta (born December 2, 1948) is a virtuoso electric and nylon-string guitar player; his music could be defined as (jazz influenced) Brazilian music. He has developed his own very personal style. His compositions are marked by beautiful harmonies and rich melodies often with surprisingly virtuoso right hand grooves. Besides being a strong composer and player, he worked many years as arranger or/and guitarist for many of the biggest stars in the Brazilian pop music scene such as: Elis Regina, Milton Nascimento, Maria Bethania, Jo
Not a problem, Bad Thoughts! It's actually a really good recording of it, too. Interestingly, there is absolutely no stage banter. Don't know if that is normal for J Spaceman, but makes the recording even better.
