  • After a few days with no new credits, I usually stop checking until somebody posts here that they got more. I hadn't been there in a while when I was tipped off to the great September EMI giveaway, and I've been there at least once a day since then. I'm ready for a break, but I have two partial albums I'd like to complete first, and I need about ten tracks to do it.
  • Some new credits showed up!
2 each from Gilt Group, Gilt Man, and Gossip GIrl; 1 from Sprint.
  • Just the 1 Sprint for me, happy to have it.
  • Same credits as Katrina plus 1 from Microsoft which got me to 8 and Andrew Hills Point of Departure.
  • Me: 1. She: 3. Me: start on Pharaoh Sanders' Jewels of Thought. She: start on Pink Anderson's Medicine Show Man.
  • Just the one for me, too. Oh well. I can use it to finish the Mingus I've been working on, then can get started on Scott Walker's Tilt when the next batch of DLs hit.

    Craig
  • Just one for me too, in both accounts. Enough to finish the Dr. John.
  • Got just one.

here's a great two track release I found based on the Gavin Bryars discussion in the other thread. 4.5 stars and a very good review from allmusic.
  • Got three - never had anything from Gilt Man before which was 2 - pecked away at previous projects.

Project for the future - find , and post, long tracks that could complete albums, ahem, elsewhere, which said long tracks kick up from 6 or 7 credits to 12, etc. such as the 13:06 I'll Remember April I referenced above. I found a UFO album over there that I had had the foresight to previously download a 15 minute track from before it hit Album Pricing and hence evaded the penalty - a double album for 16 credits instead of the 24 that I don't know it would have been worth to me.
  • I got 3, but my wife got 9! Although as I said before, she lost about 5 that she received when signing up before she was able to use them. So maybe this is a "gift".

Any recommendations for jazz albums 4-6 tracks in length? We like what I suppose is fairly obvious: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, etc
  • some of my favorites so far have been Andrew Hill's Point of Departure (5 tracks), Wayne Shorter's Speak No Evil (6), Herbie Hancock's Empyrean Isles (4), Art Blakey's Indestructible (5) and Jackie McClean's New and Old Gospel (3, I think, with Ornette Coleman on trumpet!)

*all track numbers ignore bonuses and alternates.
** These are all well rated by Penguin or allmusic or both.
  • 2 from slamball, so I got both tracks of Titanic/Jesus' Blood. What is slamball? Oh well. Don't care.
  • I'm so happy. This latest round of credits, I got David Bowie's Young Americans which I dang near wore out on vinyl. I listened to it while doing some digging in the yard.
2 more credits showed up from Slamball - whatever that is .
  • Thanks for the recommendations. We picked up John Coltrane's "Ascension", Thelonious Monk's "Brilliant Corners", and Charles Mingus' "The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady". The local library had Andrew Hill's "Point of Departure" so I picked that up to give it a listen as well. Now what to do with the new Slamball credits...
  • edited October 2010
How about Eric Dolphy at the Five Spot vol. 1, with Booker Little and Mal Waldron?
  • edited October 2010
Ah yeah I have At the Five Spot Vol. 1 & 2. Great stuff, highly recommended.

I went for Sonny Rollins "Tenor Madness"
  • This was my first credit reload and I got nine. It still seems too good to be true. It will probably never last, but I'll enjoy it while I can!
  • Anyone else try logging in and being told that your account is not accessible in this region?
  • mine logged in fine. (still no credits though).
  • Working normally for me. Not that it's doing my credit-less self any good at this time. I have experienced occasional squirreliness with their site, that has always cleared up later in the day.
  • I'm wondering if it's because I'm at a library. Libraries can be a bit wonky.
  • occasional squirreliness? Hmmm. The whole thing is squirrely.
What the hell. 14 October and no credits on any horizon. I've tired logging out of all my channels, saying I love golf and fast food, would love to travel to anywhere, etc.
    Nadda.
  • Even without the credits, I still go to Guvera to stream a few albums every week. There's too much stuff I want to hear in my life, but I really don't want to own.
  • The really, really bad thing about the site is that if advertisers aren't on board with the concept, then it just falls apart. And if they aren't on board, we as users aren't on board. They lured us all in every day for a few weeks with the EMI September promo, and now what? A few credits sporadically appear, and eventually we stop checking in. They need to sustain our interest for longer periods.
  • 6 more credits!
  • 2, though my wife got 4. I have a feeling that the end of the month is when they put back unused credits into circulation.
  • 8 here, created 2 fake accounts to finish Gregory Isaacs' Night Nurse since they had a bonus 4 tracks on it.
  • Crap, I need one more to finish off Tom Jones's latest. Probably have to wait a month...
