When Katrina mentioned she had 8 credits this morning, I went in to check my account. I only had 4, but no complaints. However, when I got home to download some music I only had 2 credits in my account. At this rate, I'll owe four credits by midnight! Anyone have any insight into this issue?
When I logged back in today, there were only 6 credits showing, 2 each from these channels:
'Rock Never Dies' from Mark Nason
'Get Your Fashion Fix' from Gilt Gruop
'Pink Nation' from VIctoria's Secret
I didn't notice what channel had the other 2 credits last night. They were just gone, so I don't know what got pulled. I think it was a different Gilt Groupe channel, but don't hold me to it.
When I actually tried to download something today, from Mark Nason, a thing popped up and showed 1 credit instead of the 2 from the summary page. When I tried to use the one credit, it just disappeared. So - I ended up only getting 4 downloads, not the 8 I saw last night.
I had 4 credits when I logged in today. I was able to download 2 songs, but when I tried to download the 3rd song, instead of my chosen song ("Buffalo Soldiers" from Bob Marley's Confrontation) the download link kept showing the 2nd song I'd downloaded, "Diamond Dogs" by Beck from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.
I closed that window, did a new search for Buffalo Soldiers, clicked all the appropriate buttons and links and still "Diamond Dogs" kept showing up as my song to download. I ran through all these steps a couple of times, got the same results and eventually gave up. I went back in a couple of hours later to try again and my two unused credits had disappeared.
It does seem to be "use them or lose them" at Guvera. I think it has been suggested upthread that supplies are limited, when they're gone they're gone.
@piper - I just downloaded that track and had a similar issue - I've forwarded it on to the support guys. @thom - If you can get any other examples of this, we'd like to hear about it. @doofy - Report any issue, really, we want to fix them all - the support team do their best to attention each and every email that comes through to support@guvera.com @dell - I'm going to try and replicate your issue, that's strange.
And yes, some times it is "use them or lose them" - if company A has only requested X amount of a budget, once it's gone from use by all users in their demographic, it's gone until they choose to recharge.
Something I had forgotten to mention - when you go to download a track, keep the channel window open. Don't go forward or back - the download link remains active for some time, so if after you download the track it seems like it may have not downloaded correctly, you can click the same link again and it will not take away from your credits.
@dell, I've tried to do the same thing, cannot get the same problem to reoccur. I thought it might have been the tick boxes next to the songs (so you can save your searches and wait for the credits to be available), but each track you download with a tick, it removes the tick from the page and therefore the next channel you visit, the next song in the 'tick list' is the download link.
@dddanmar, thanks, it's reported. I should have realized the DL didn't happen properly, it finished too quick. The direct download link is a good feature, I've used it before.
I get new credits at midnight PST. I check most days, just in case, and use them right away. I've gotten most I want. Last night I downloaded some Rihanna. That's how I know I've gotten everything else I want...
@ddanmar - I can't get the issue to stop. I appreciate you looking into it.
This morning I logged in, searched for "Buffalo Soldier" by Bob Marley, found it, clicked download, clicked on on the store with credits and then I'm taken to the ad/download page, and it shows me the link to download the Beck song.
I use Safari on a Mac, so I started Firefox and was able to download "Buffalo Soldier." When I tried to search for a second song ("She's a Rainbow" by the Rolling Stones) I go through all the steps and the ad/download page for "Buffalo Soldier" shows up again.
I go back to Safari, clear my cache, search again for "She's a Rainbow" and the ad/download page shows Beck. Then I turned on "Private Browsing" and go through all the steps again for "She's a Rainbow" and Beck shows up.
For what it's worth, I'm a website designer, I can handcode HTML and CSS, so I'm pretty comfortable on the web, I'm pretty sure I'm not doing something wrong. But I'm completely baffled.
Woot! 4 credits showed up/back...finished off one album and started a new one.
I was surprised to see David Lowery's "The Palace Guards" available. It was only released yesterday.
Thanks for the tip on checking at midnight, Kenny. I had been checking not every day, maybe about every 4-5 days but there was never anything there after noon.
2 more for me this morning too. Plus, after I used those two it moved Slamball to the top of my channel list so I tried to download on it even though it said 0 credits. It worked, but not a second time. So I actually got three tracks.
@ddanmar - I had to restart my Mac this morning and after I did that I used Safari to download a new track. That weird always-shows-the-same-Beck-song-to-download bug disappeared.
I'm going to have a chat to the testers and see if anything like that has shown up before - we actually run all Macs in the office here so Safari is tested extensively. I had been trying in Firefox yesterday, just had a play in Safari and couldn't replicated the issue. Good to know a reboot fixed it, let us know if it happens again.
Any of you see this site before? It's very cool with a lot of potential. There is a link at the bottom of the homepage to view the site without registering.
"Hitlantis is a revolutionary free new music service for independent artists and music lovers. We help artists to break through, and music lovers to discover great new music and artists that they want to support."
OK, at first look, *that's* fun (Hitlantis). You can explore bands by genre/relatedness and popularity ("hotness"), and apparently listen to full tracks/albums. Haven't looked at buying yet, but will register for sure. The graphic menu is terrific, if only Amie had had something like this. (Though I am partially color-blind, so in this case, genre-blind.)
It's certainly an interesting method to discover new music. I'm a highly visual person and appreciate the exploratory nature of Hitlantis. Two of the bigger drawbacks (for me, anyway) is that 1) it's a Flash site; and 2) the creators are from Helsinki so a majority of the artists right now are from Finland.
Anyway, I suppose I should've started a new thread rather than derail this one, but I thought some of you would find it an interesting diversion while we wait for more credits to arrive.
I'm still waiting for my confirmation email, but I already hate the name. I think less of a secret treasure trove of new music and more of an enclave of former NSDAP hiding in Argentina.
Thank you, Sprint, for all 18:39 of Track 4 from The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady by Mingus. That little list I keep at eMu does come in handy on these occasions.
Another track from the UFO Official Bootleg Box later (hopefully) - don't need the last 2 discs that don't have Michael Schenker, but I'm up to about 60% of the first four (work began during the Sept. bonanza).
Nothing from Gilt Man here. Maybe I don't shop like a guy enough. Still, Sprint gets me two tracks further into Oceanless by Landing. One more month and I should be able to listen to it. This thing of getting an album at a rate of two tracks or so a month is an intriguing experience, like having this really elongated slow chord going on in the background under the surface noise.

I got a bad track on "Saudades" today, which I did report. We'll see if they're sufficiently organized/motivated to respond (beyond auto-response).
'Rock Never Dies' from Mark Nason

'Pink Nation' from VIctoria's Secret

THAT was disappointing.

Thanks for checking in here ddd...it's nice of you to try to respond to the issues that arise. I hope you don't have to do that work on your own time!
