The Legendary Pink Dots - Easter In The Deep South
The Silverman- Keys;Patrick Q Wright- violins; Julia Niblock-voice,bass; Stret Majest Alarme-guitars;EK-vox; Graham Whitehead-keys; Hans Meier-sonic solutions.
"Easter 1985 and The Dots were still quite wet behind the ears when it came to live performances. This release is taken from a radio recording of the show at Alabamahalle in Munich on 6 April 1985.It's a spirited affair though very rough at the edges .With the rendition of "Lovers Part 2" the technical problems rendered this delicate song unlistenable so it's regretfully omitted. Still ,turn up the volume and enjoy this rare little slice of LPD history."

@Stewrat Thanks for posting that! ....that band new to me for sure. I've been listening to a lot of Aphex Twin and µ-Ziq over the past two weeks (courtesy of their Soundclown uploads) so the change of pace back to, as Allmusic termed them, "bouncy noise pop" was quite refreshing.
You're alright in my book* !

- "Created on location at Ponta do Sol for Madeira Micro International Film Festival. Using field recordings made on site in and around Madeira five individual works have been created from the same source sounds."
Well, that's fun (and free)...Clarinetest Saxist Ben Goldberg w/ sextet plays a 44-minute version of a Monk tune at "the slowest tempo I could imagine, right around quarter note = 13 seconds. I had a feeling that something would take over sooner or later, and I think I was right."
Talk about giving improvisers a chance to "stretch out" - perhaps not surprisingly, it sounds quite ambient-ish at times. I found out about this on the Memory Select blog.
- "The second of a trio of releases culled from a small tray of cassettes discovered at the back of a dusty cupboard . Has there ever been a more personal Legendary Pink Dots related release than this one? Picture the scene. It's 1983 or 1984 and Phil is alone in his tiny music room in the flat he rents in Station Road, Walthamstow. There is so much exotic percussion ,it's hard to move.By one wall is a harmonium dating back to Victorian times, by another wall there's an old piano, strings exposed and Phil coaxing sounds from the instrument's interior. The space echo flashes red...It's a magical journey from a crowded space creating a picture that glows in the moonlight.Bookending the piece is what will eventually become "Tower 5".If ever a cassette needed rescuing ,it's this one.The piece has been cleaned and edited ,no extra sound or treatment has been added. Also with more than a hint of what would eventually turn up a different form with The Dots are the 2 other pieces on this release. They were both "finished" more recently but compliment the mysterious "Echo Room" delightfully.Three flowers from the Silverman."
"Chaos in the Cosmos" (Shahr-âshub in Persian) is an experimental music inspired by the well-known components of Iranian culture such as literature, miniatures, calligraphies and the art of carpet. Being aware that meta-narratives have no place in today’s world, it is aimed to be a micro-narrative of the Persian traditional poetry and music.
Chaos (Âshub) is a metaphor for the invention and discovering the new disciplines and Cosmos (Shahr) is a metaphor for the established disciplines.
We respect other nations’ music and believe that what constitutes the future of the music is a dialogue between the contemporary and traditional music. Thus, we look at the western music from the second half of 20th century (from 1950 onward) and consciously bracket all the appeal of tonal music in order to rediscover the harmonics and non-harmonics of the music by itself.
