We're spending a week in Munich in August, so maybe I ought to get that Beer drinking set; on second thoughts no, I won't!! Maybe finding some German beer might be a better way to get ready...
Figured the Fela out - it was hoosfoos posted in the Mispriced thread last March about Power Show at eMu. I'm guessing it was 12 credits at the time but only briefly before they caught the error, as they had done with Zombie Batch 3 previously. So, thanks again, hoosfoos. BTW,Power Show is the only one of the Batch releases at $9.99 (rest are $74.99)
I got two or three of the Fela sets, including Power Show, at Amie for $5 or $6 during the end-of days frenzy there, whenever that was. They're well worth any bargain price you can find.
Hmm, this is a Winter & Winter release, Cuadernos de la Habana - 5 discs, $9.99, $41.99 at Amazon. I am thus far ambivalent because I am unfamiliar with the artists, though I am not unfamiliar with at least more vintage Cuban music, but bring it up based on the esteem which I know some of you hold Winter & Winter in. More to follow.
The History of Cante Flamenco - 5 discs, 4:23, $9.99. It's $41.99 at Amazon. Heard some nice guitar but the singing can be a bit of an acquired taste.
Cuadernos de la Habana sounds like an interesting project: see this review, among others. These are almost like "field recordings" of live performances, background noises and all.
Mr. Big - Back To Budokan - cheaper here at $8.99 than elsewhere. Have been listening to the What If? album which I have acquired somehow and liking, inspired by having recently seen Billy Sheehan as the guest wanker (normally guitar) on That Metal Show on VH1 Classic - I don't always care for bass virtuosos/wankers but the dude impressed me. Have to expand the collection some more.
A less likely candidate siiting on my eMu SFL that I find is cheaper at 7dig - The Lost Anthology by George Lynch, same price for this 2 disc version as the single disc. We shall see.
Well, maybe this is what I'm hunting for - Naxos - Mozart, W.A.:Complete Symphonies, 11 discs, 11 hours, $9.99. Only thing I'm pissed about is that their stupid site won't recognize their own stupid DLM today and I've got a zipfile, a very long zipfile, downloading instead. Oh, bother.
Edit - Oops, this baby's $79.49 at Amazon (or $61 if you pick the edition with a different cover - huh?), so patience will have its virtues.
[A] recording of the composer's complete keyboard works, performed by Beghin on seven replica instruments in nine "virtual rooms"--digital equivalents of places like Haydn's own study in Eisenstadt, the festsaal in Vienna's Palais Dietrichstein-Lobkowicz and the spiegelsaal in the Esterhazy Palace, where Haydn served as the house composer to nobility. Woszczyk recorded the characteristics of each room, then channelled that information and Beghin's own fresh notes through a dome of loudspeakers deployed around the keyboardist. To Beghin it sounded like he was playing in those far-flung rooms. On disc it sounds like he was recorded on an extended and varied tour. (The Virtual Haydn is being released for sale around the world this month and next on Naxos, appropriately in a new format: 14 hours of audio and a full-length video documentary on four Blu-ray discs.) The sound is crisp in small rooms, opulent in grander settings.
I think the idea is you will load up the Blu-ray and get the whole experience via your home theatre system.
Very interesting. Would take some small commitment of time to complete the "tour" in that fashion, but it has possibilities. A few bottles of wine would no doubt help achieve the requisite amount of sedentary occupation, in addition to making the most of the interiors.
A couple of CMH bluegrass comps that are a couple of bucks cheaper on 7dig - Long Live Bluegrass, 2 disc, $9.99.
Somewhat repetitive The Definitive Bluegrass Collection, same price. I believe there have been better CMH collections we've addressed previously here - doh, see bottom of page 7.
Thanks for these recommendations, I'll be downloading the Czech album today. The Egarr harpsichord is a terrific bargain if you enjoy this type of music. I found it wonderful last winter to leave on for the afternoon when the weather turned snowy and cold.
Thanks for the Mackerras tip, BT.
However, is anyone else having trouble with the 7digital site? After the purchase it didn't take me to the download page at the Music Locker, which I can not access in any fashion otherwise as well - just a blank yellow page. The Mackerras shows up on the 7digital Player for me so it seems to have gone through but I'm high and dry. Have to say their site has been a bit squirrelly since their redesign as well - not to the extent of eMu but I wish they'd left well enough alone.
I downloaded an album yesterday by the Holmes Brothers and used the 7Digital downloader and everything went fine. I just went to their site and was able to get to my music locker but each page took quite a while to load so they may be having problems, I'm going to wait a couple of days on the Mackerras.
Sorry BigD. I haven't purchased this one. There's a similar set, but of Mackerras doing Janacek and Martinu (5 hours) , that I've been trying to find instead.
I agree BDB about the redesign. I have far more trouble browsing than I used to, but the aspects I find OK. It is as thought they and emu are trying to attract people who know what track they want or only want to access new chart music!

A 20 disc shot in the dark - Carl Schuricht Edition, $9.99. Considerably more elsewhere.
Mendelssohn:The Complete Symphonies, $9.99.
Schubert - The Symphonies - on Period Instruments, The Hanover Band, 4 discs, $9.99.
I'm feeling deja vuish on this one but anyway - Beethoven Symphonies 1-9, Hanover Band on Original Instruments, 5 disc, $9.99. (Aha! It was $8.99 last September).
6 CD set - Mistislav Rostropovich - The 1967 Carnegie Hall Marathon, $9.99. $50 at Amazon.

Louis Couperin: Pieces de Clevicin by Richard Egarr, 5 hours, $9.99
I think that there are also some 3 disc collections from Supraphon that may be new ... I'll check later.
ETA:
This one is new Early Recordings by Josef Suk (violinist, not composer), 7 hours for $9.99
Martinu's Julietta
Charles Mackerras' Life in Czech Music 7 1/2 hours, perhaps the most celebrated conductor of Czech classical.
