And I couldn't help myself over there. His posts really are nothing more than masturbation. He writes to make himself feel superior to whoever was mean to him that one time on the boards. And while he must spend plenty of time hacking away at his manifestos, he's not worth more than a 5 second "fuck off" from me. Now if only he'd stop posting in almost every thread...
ECM is definitely the best deal for sticking around
i feel overwhelmed as to this label and a handful of others (e.g., verve). i'm going to dive-into the thread here about ECM, hoping to pinpoint some stuff to start with.
I'd stick around and try it - CS did actually respond well to a problem I just had, even if you have to club them over the head a little - I always send a reiteration reply to the robo-response just to nudge them along. But what's with this first track issue? I don't get that, but I haven't upgraded the DLM from 4.1.2 because I don't trust it to work well.
I get the same first track fail most times to, and my dlm version might be older than yours. Not sure if they'll use that as an excuse to deny me a re-dl.
For those trying to pinch pennies and acquire music - the so-long forgotten initial appeal of eMu - I'd suggest saving up your acquisition list and then combining whatever welcome-back offer with selecting Preferred eMusic Connoisseur where you pay eighty bucks but get almost a hundred dollars to spend. You should be able to average less than five, meaning you spend 80 bucks for 20 or 21 albums. Four bucks per album, not bad, certainly not Limey where I'm averaging about two dollars per album.
Then you could double that for 152 dollars for a year, picking up three or four per month, probably getting about around 38 a year. Again, that's four bucks an album.
I can see myself once a year doing the first option if I could easily see twenty albums I truly wanted.
That concludes any of my positive comments about the new scheme or the one way I could see myself using it.
I may have reached a resolution. I wrote my fifth e-mail to CS, documenting how they withheld information on altering subscriptions during the 30-day period and hoping to reach some alternative arrangement. They didn't bite on my offer to switch into another long-term account. Instead they will give me another $12, presumably when the Merge/Matador/Beggars booster buyers will get their's. Along with the extra 12 credits I received last month and the additional 50 cents that was added to the "bonus," I've clawed back a good part of my subscriptions value. My estimate of 8 tracks per month may have been a bit high, but with the addition I'll get about 97% of the value.
At least now I feel that I can look around at the UMG drop to see if I like anything--maybe get a booster without suspicion or resentment.
