Wow, I was going to make some observations about the instrumentals set -- but I see that you just pretty much identified all the same warts I did. (I still haven't decided whether it's worth it though -- still listening on rdio).
I might get it just because it has a lot of unique tracks though.
@idiotprogrammer - As to the Acrobat label, I got both those Muddy Waters collection and both Howling Wolf even though I have loads by both of them - mostly on CD and even, ahem, cassette, and at the (booster sale) price they were too good to pass up. The Wynonie Harris collection deserves consideration, one of the greatest blues shouters - did not get this one because I have a 5 CD box of him, so haven't vetted it, but it's got stuff of him with Illinois Jacquet, and sides from one of the great Battle Of The Blues series with him and Big Joe Turner - http://www.emusic.com/album/wynonie-harris/the-wynonie-harris-collection-1944-47/14910987/. Not comprehensive though as it's missing some of his later hits like Bloodshot Eyes, Loving Machine, and Good Morning Judge.
@idiotprogrammer, thanks for the heads up on the Acrobat sets. I have loads of Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf, but I realized I have almost nothing from Chuck Berry except a vinyl collection, so the Chuck Berry set was a no-brainer. Listened to most of it last night, sounds good.
Sadly I can't access the US site from here and the UK one doesn't even list the album. Not a whinge I should just dig out a few of me Kinks cds and get on with it ;-)
I think someone on here recommended to me the Haydn Vox Box 24-hours-for-$3 collection, which I have enjoyed. Now there is a companion volume of his keyboard works - 10 hours for 99 cents.
In case anyone is interested in a well-regarded, well-reviewed period instrument box set of the Haydn string quartets, the 19 disk set by the Festetics Quartet is $112 at emusic and $95 at Amazon (not to mention $193 at 7digital, which for once seems mispriced in the wrong direction) but can be had for $10 here. 229 tracks and I couldn't get their downloader to work, so downloading is a little cumbersome, but quite the deal.
As expected the CD Universe download of the Festetics Quartet boxset is not available in the UK. However looking at 7digital gives a very pleasant surprise, with it available there for £26.49
Single track album, an hour long. $6.99 at emusic. $0.99 at Google Play.
But although Rückverzauberung 10 is a single continuous flux, composed of more or less the same sonic elements throughout, the variation in the respective weighting of these constituents creates a heady sequence of atmospheres. An inventory of the various moods that Rückverzauberung 10 quite effectively evokes in an overly suggestible mind might begin by including (simultaneously unimaginative and vividly imagined) obviousnesses like the forest’s solemn grandeur, the distinct undercurrent of untameable disquiet and unease, the shimmering allure of untrodden paths. - Tiny Mix Tapes

Hey many thanks for this, I'm a bit of a fan and for a change a Grandfathered UK account works in my favour - 42p. Sounds good too, slightly symphonic in its opening section. The albums he released as GAS (individual and as a box set) are well worth investigation if you don't know them.
For any fans of John Jorgenson - multifaceted guitarist, telewanker from The Hellecasters, Nashville studio cat, Desert Rose Band, and also dedicated Djangophile - there's a new release at eMu, Divertuoso, which combines three different albums of his for a one album price, 40 tracks. He is a serious talented cat, highly recommended. http://www.emusic.com/album/john-jorgenson/divertuoso/16178889/
@djh, you're welcome. Yes, I do know the Gas stuff. That is, I've listened to it but it seems I don't actually own a copy...hmmm. I think I actually prefer him beatless, but that's true of a lot of things. I tend to like ambient techno best when it is being least like techno; there's something about getting a thud-thud-thud in my ambience that doesn't usually quite work for me.

Normally I'd agree but on the GAS albums it adds to a suffocating atmosphere or at least a foggy night in the Königsforst ;-)
