Thinking of the 22 who died leaving an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester last night from a suicide terrorist bomb. Many were young teenagers some with one of their parents. See here
I can't find words to describe my thoughts and feelings about this. - My thoughts goes to everyone involved in this meaningless tragedy.

What you say Greg. I may not know Ariana Grande from Adam but ALL my early concert going bar 1 Oldham show (Ian Gillan with a blown speaker stack) and 2 Deeside Leisure Centre gigs (ahem, Kiss and Rush on what was a still frozen ice rink under the matting) where in Manchester City Centre. The IRA blew the Arndale Centre up (5 minutes from what happened last night) and it didn't stop Mancunians and their neighbours from shopping. Neither will this fool/ these fools stop young people from going out getting wrecked and hearing live music. Long may it continue. (Except the drum solo.) Peace
Gregg Allman. RIP. I was at the record store when the news came out; the clerks were contacting managers to make sure the store stocked up on Allman Bros. albums. I was walking out with Let's Dance; used Bowie albums have been hard to find. Another great one lost to us.
Will forever be grateful for his label of astounding interpretations of really great works: CP². There's about 2 dozen releases and every one is an absolute gem. The 3-LP set below changed my life and I remember loaning it out to anyone that I thought needed to have their life changed as well.
Zukofsky and Cage got along very well. Zukofsky helped him realize what could be done with the violin - even tho Zukofsky claimed that the first Freeman Etudes that Cage had composed for him were "unplayable." Irvine Arditti, afterwards showed that they were indeed playable (saw him do this in concert - had to pick my jaw up off of the floor).
Sorry to hear about Geri Allen - for some silly reason I never gave her much attention. It's a bit poor to ask now, but are there a couple of albums folk might recommend?
Well, the last two that I mentioned in the 15 Flies thread can be a good start. (So, all three people on the cover of the Segments album are now dead - ).

I couldn't find those to listen to properly so first I went to Twenty One with Ron Carter and Tony Williams after reading what the Detroit Free Press said about, well you need to have something for Miles' sidemen to be playing with you. I liked it a lot but it was a touch clean sounding for my ears. So then I found Etudes with Haden and Motian and that is right up my street especially the version of Lonely Woman which opens the session (It's listed as a Charlie Haden session on Spotify for the curious.) The pushing and pulling of the time creates an amazing tension.
Bobby Taylor, the multi octave singer most responsible for Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 getting their first big break at Motown has died. Along the way he also, managed to have Tommy Chong in his bands.
That's sad- it hits me when I see he was 67, which I will be in a few weeks. Some great music from Steely Dan as we were discussing a few weeks back. RIP
I noticed last night that the poet John Ashbery died earlier in the day. I'm going through some of his audio readings today and some other works that use his artistry - such as this goody from the early 70's (another one of those "weird" things that would emanate from my bedroom):
I believe the first time I heard a Holger Czukay track was Persian Love off a double benefit album "Music And Rhythm" and my first vinyl of his was "Der Osten Ist Rot". He'll be sadly missed.
