Presented as ambient, and that is the general neck of the woods, though individual tracks play with different styles - a little floaty ambience, some beats, some drone, some slightly dubby stuff...and the whole very enjoyable indeed. Free at the archive.
Feldmaus is actually a collaborative effort between sound artists Evgeny Shchukin and Alexander Tochilkin. The superb ambient album titled Spaces is a collection of their soundscapes using vintage analog machines to cut, shape and mix everything up with some digital elements to create beautiful pieces of enchanting sounds. This is above average music that is quite soothing. The duo is joined by Japanese guitarist Imachi Akira for some tracks. Highly recommended for both electronic and ambient fans.
Sibirskaya Vechora is a 10 member folk ensemble consisting of students and alumni of the Krasnoyarsk College of Arts and the Krasnoyarsk Academy of Music and Theatre. They play the traditional music of Siberia and Russia. The CD titled Muziki, Viryazukhi Moi featured 13 tracks of music recording on tour by this fascinating ensemble. It is an excellent collection of Russian traditional music.
Enjoying this too.
There's a bunch of interesting stuff at http://freealbums.blogsome.com/ in various genres. Jazz, world, electronic, rock....
All American Cow Girls, ten tracks of what I presume are female country singers, although I do not recognize any of the names.
Gothic Daydreams, fourteen tracks of what I presume are goth artists, although I do not recognize any of the names. (Why don't the Goths who hang around the mall in my town look like this album cover?)
Live performance at Lucindas Cafe, Berkelouw Books, 28 August 2011. Seaworthy performed alongside Japanese artist Chihei Hatakeyama and local visual/sound design artist Kane Yeoseop Yoon. The show was hosted by General Store. http://the-generalstore.net/ Room sound recorded with Sony PCM-D50 & built in mics. Guitar, loop pedals and ebow.
Hey Mr. Resident's Eyeball,
Thanks for that new Maurizio Bianchi link. I'm not sure if it was you or someone else here who posted his Symphony for a Genocide some time ago, but I really enjoyed that. I've now downloaded Loopspool and it sounds like another winner. This guy is prolific but most of his work is hard to find. Keep them coming!
Another huge collection of free tracks from Futuresequence. 43 tracks, over 4 hours, including names such as (to list a few that have previously graced this board) Nils Frahm, Rhian Sheehan, Seaworthy, Damian Valles, Jannick Schou, Radere, Specta Ciera, The Inventors of Aircraft... Free download from bandcamp.
They can keep these coming as far as I'm concerned.
Not exactly free, but YepRoc has 100 albums for $3.99, digital download only. There is some great stuff on this list, although I was surprised how many I already had.
By Ben Woods - I have another of his from somewhere that was getting some play on this board a while back. This is nice ambient instrumentals built around piano. Free download (cross-posting to bandcamp thread).
The songs all contain a similar tone which is very light and fragile, almost lacking in bite. Opener After the Wind is a piano led track which rings out beautifully with every note hit. Some background keyboard work slowly fades into the song and takes the center role as the piano falls away. The sounds drift through the audience and evoke different feelings and emotions. Although this music seems to lack something in its fragility, it is still very powerful.
Time-limited offer. There's some good stuff on here - now's your chance to sample it for free.
DiN20 - iNDEX02 will be available as a free download from Bandcamp until 1/1/2012. This 18 track sampler album features tracks by Ian Boddy, ARC, Robert Rich, Markus Reuter, Bernhard Wöstheinrich, Subsonic Experience & dbkaos.
Pretty EP of gently melodic music. Free @ bandcamp
The new recordings find Alex utilising familiar elements which made 'Morning's Pass' (his debut EP) so successful; electric swells, organic heart and uplifting and life-affirming melodies to create his unique sound of subtle euphoria.
Das Kraftfuttermischwerk - Netaudio Mixtape4 - t.slubs (thinners slow Dubs)
If an hour or so's worth of slow ambient dub in the form of a mix made from tracks from the Thinner netlabel sounds like a good way to unwind, this is for you. Some awkward mix transitions, but very, very mellow.
Just a heads up the the first future sequence compilation, that started as a free release and includes some excellent tracks, is now $5, so if you might want the second one, linked higher up this page, (43 tracks including Nils Frahm, Rhian Sheehan, Seaworthy, Damian Valles, Jannick Schou, Radere, Specta Ciera, The Inventors of Aircraft) you should probably grab it while it's free.

Lionel Marchetti:
- "Is a French electroacoustic music composer (b1967) who started releasing discs in 1993 under the influence of Michel Chion. Since then he released highly original discs like Portrait dun glacier(2001), Noord Five Atlantica (2006) and my favorite Train de Nuit (2002). The Musique.laclasse.com CD is the result of numerous workshops he conducted in schools with children from 12 to 16 years old. The composer helps the kids record source material then process it themselves with effects and montage. This CD is a selection of some of these musique concrète tracks and is meant to be played on shuffle mode with the silent tracks popping up here and there. Some of Marchettis own technique springs up here and there but with a fresh and naive take on musique concrète. The Musique.laclasse.com is also a cute website with updated soundfiles."
- Continuo / 2009.
