The excentric Brittish freakfolk/avantgarde ensemble, Volcano The Bear, headed by the amazing Daniel Padden has recently posted selected tracks from a number of their albums and EP's @ The Free Music Archive.
I want to sign up for the DAS too. The Bach organ link is wonderful. I don't yet understand what this "twitter" thing is, but there seem to be many good links in the pages you linked to.
Yes, the James Kibbie Bach Organ Works are wonderful. There appears to be one track miss-titled in the FMA downloads, the second copy of BWV 550 on Preludes and Fugues, is really BWV 551 Prelude and Fugue in A Minor.
Just spotted that Dutch Radio 4 currently have a weekly download, a new one each Friday, of a work from the archives of The Sunday Morning Concert. The site is http://zondagochtendconcert.radio4.nl/ but it is in Dutch and the download page looks to change each week. The current week's download is Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Edward Gardner playing Brahms First Symphony.. There is also a podcast that looks to combine that weeks Sunday Morning Concert, and a program of short pieces; both of which are also available for streaming.
Paul, are you UK or Europe based? Normally at this time of day there is only Brighternow (Denmark)and myself around, sometimes Nerefidd (Ireland I think) too.
Yeah, it was a very short time - Previte notes these things in his facebook feed. But the good news is that Bobby has dropped his album prices across the board to $5, very fair prices, and loads of good music. If you don't have any Previte, great place to pick some up.
It features a couple of alternate versions and exclusive audio which was used as part of the soundtrack to [the soundtrack to acclaimed filmmaker Grant Gee's documentary about German writer WG Sebald.] but which didn't make the physical release of the album.
I could only play the sample, as I can't download it here, but it is so earily similar to ? ?! I won't put the name to spoil it for others, but it is so similar right from the first notes, even the style of music is the same. I'll whisper Doofy the answer....
