...thanks to brighternow. Although seems a bit broody to be called "power pop." What are all these indie bands so damn depressed about anyway? They're young, having fun, making music, hanging around in clubs. Have to tell you, boys, that's about as good as it gets!*
Homer: I'll miss you, Pumpkins, but I just can't share your bleak
world view. I've got too much to live for. Corgan: We envy you, Homer. All we have is our music, our legions

@amclark, I've been thinking about this, because the other day I was talking to the mother of a guy who's out on the road doing the music thing (with the Afrobeat band Nomo, in fact). The mom used to babysit my daughter when she was little. Very concerned that there wasn't much money in it, they didn't have a record contract, they were on the road all the time, etc. I told her a) when else in your life are you going to get a chance to do something like that and b) by the way, to hell with the record companies. Not sure if she was all that comforted, but I stand by my point of view. Also pointed out that by the time I was this kid's age, I'd already been in a cubicle for several years....!

I've not listened to Fahey in a long while. Wonderful, mad music.
Folkier than what I usually listen to, but sometimes a little slide guitar works for me.

Couple of weak tracks aside (including the boring opener) this is remains, after many, many plays, one of my very favorite albums.
