Talvihorros - Descent Into Delta - (Hibernate - 2011)
"Add Descent Into Delta to Ben Chatwin's ongoing run of spectacular Talvihorros releases. This five-part recording for the esteemed Hibernate label contributes to a growing body of soundscape-related work from the London-based guitarist that's distinguished by its high quality and gradual development; the project clearly has come a long way in a short time, as Talvihorros only came into being in 2008. . . New single by Bon Iver and James Blake. Kind of strange. Sounds like someone's dog barking at intervals all the way through (connection with the artwork?). But if you liked either of their recent releases it does kind of sound like both.
Vieux Farka Toure is playing at my college on Monday...for free. How could I refuse?
Thanks, Brighternow. Checking it out on Spotify. (By the way, it strikes me that folk who release albums with one 59 minute track are going to make NO money on spotify; the tens of thousands of tracks listens needed to get up to the minimum payment threshold presumably become album listens. I'll listen once then decide whether to buy.)
DotD at Amazon, well worth $4, put it on the shelf next to the last few American Recordings from Johnny Cash. More production, but similar "I'm going to die soon" themes.
The Minizza is indeed quite elegant.
(Search for Minizza on 7digital and you get, among other things, Dannii Minogue. Just as well we don't use search engines for playlists.)
a fellow whose tastes i respect (if i don't always agree with) says this may be the best album of the year. i'm not hearing it at all, but i'm only halfway through my first listen on spotify.

David Bazan - Strange Negotiations, Amazon DotD for $3.99. Sounds great so far.
Not as good as House of Balloons, but still very, very good.

Gurun Gurun - Gorogoro Garagara Rimikkusu
- A most brilliant Offthesky "Rimikkusu" here . . .
From 7Dig, great price, great music. This will amuse me for many many days to come.
Thanks, Brighternow. Enjoying this.
Thanks again, BN. Unfortunately, you are (partly) responsible for my SFL growing faster than my credits.
