This really is a great find Plong 42, I would go as far as saying one of the very best free albums I have ever heard. If you haven't succumbed yet check on the free music thread. Strong hints of jazz, folk, certainly Afrobeat and Mbalax (Many people in Mali are from the Woloff tribe who are also in Senegal and The Gambia). If you have any interest in any of those genre download!

I just love this, and would never have heard it if not for Amie Street. Makes me wish I'd snapped up more classical back in the day...

I didn't get the chance to listen to Lassazo yesterday, need to get up to speed!
  • Do Doofy, I'm sure you will love it!

Been suffering mightily from insomnia these past couple of weeks and last night was particularly restless so after this morning's run I figured that this was the right sort of music for a cloudy mind.

    Okay, I'm on board!

I'll up the ante: it's the most important free album I've ever heard. "Lendemain du caf
  • Three albums in a row by Ass... self-titled, then My Get Up and Go, then Salt Marsh.

New album coming out this year.

I'm listening to all 16 minutes of "Lendemain du caf
  • @Greg, BT, see, I've already learned things about this album from your two-liners. MiG post? I'd love to read what someone has to say about it who actually knows the genres/milieu.

  • My edit crossed with your post GP - I suggest BT is the person!

Ditto. I would certainly not know what "Lendemain du cafe" is about. So while I could write somewhat knowledgeably about the music itself, I'd apparently miss a big aspect of the work.

  • Yes I agree Craig. I've just listened to that specific track again and I struggled, getting about one word in four or five.It does need someone reasonably fluent in the language to do full justice to the album

Nice recent free short-form drone from Resting Bell. A bit Tim Hecker-ish.

@Craig, had that Numan on just the other day.

Stairway to Heaven is, IMO, one of the best rock songs ever!

Previously posted on wrong thread half an hour ago!!!
  • GP - It boggles my mind that the Numan album is from 1979. It would be amazing if it was released today.

I admit it - I am no longer listening to music but to the television. My football (soccer) team Manchester United are playing in an early start (6.00pm) Europeam game. It's the second leg - they lost the first 3-2. Now they are already another goal down, so they need three to win. At this rate I'll soon be back to the music!
