Thank you, kez! Nice to hear - especially as it was a scarier one to write (in terms of skirting closer to the boundaries of any supposed genre expertise I might have). I heard from the band, who liked it too, which is a relief too.
Alamaailman Vasarat have agreed to an interview for MiG. I'll get onto it in the coming weeks - it will take a while as I am on the road the rest of this month. (Just got to Melbourne after a couple of days in Canberra).
Hi Gang,
Im not sure where to send this question so I thought Id start here. First, I want to let you know that MIG was partially responsible for inspiring me to start my own music website. While its now up and running, Im just getting started and learning every day. I decided to set up my own site partially to write and have a creative outlet and partially to push myself to learn some more advanced computer skills/stuff (just got on twitter, for example). If youre not moving forward you may be dead, etc. In any case, I want to put some links to other sites I like, including MIG and/or emusers. So the question is: Who would OK something like that? I assume its not an issue, but didnt want to inadvertently upset anyone. Thanks!
I just put up a draft of an album review of Splashgirl's "Pressure." If someone wants to review and post it, I'm ready to let it go.
A different thing... it appears that Craig's avatar/image is showing up in my draft. I couldn't find anywhere where I could add my own (which, actually, I thought I already had). Maybe I don't have permissions to do that myself. I've got an image I can email someone if they can change it.
Did some Twittering. We have some new followers, a couple interesting ones. Not a lot of re-tweet action, though, which never fails to irritate me for some reason.
But I think we're caught up on the tweets. If somebody notices that I missed something, please mention.
Well, thanks for asking. It's just getting started and is very much a work in progress, but I use the name Albert E.Trapezoid. It's a "nom de plume" I used years ago and decided to ressurect. Also set up facebook and twitter accounts. I'm probably one of the new followers you noticed. Will be adding a MIG link this weekend (which I'm sure will bring down your server with the flow of traffic from my site!). It's been fun so far, which is all I wanted out of it.
Just finally sent the first question in an interview with Stakula of Alamaailman Vasarat. If there is anything anyone would like me to ask them, let me know. How soon is is ready depends on how fast the conversation goes.
I have almost finished writing the Ikin review - will post it by the end of the weekend. I only see two pieces by Craig since September - Is anyone else still writing for MiG or has the energy dissipated? (That's not at all a criticism - I've been overwhelmed at work for the last month and a half and have a deadline to get a book finished by Christmas that is at present one third written, so I've not been active either). Or will it pick up again with end of year lists?
It occurs to me I should check Nereffid's guide against Guvera.
Yeah, I've found various other things to keep me occupied over the last few months. There's an outside chance I'll manage to get the latest chapter of my history finished tomorrow but it could just as easily be another two weeks...
I would like to get some jazz reviews up there, but with my own site, AAJ, eMusic, and now a couple other opportunities (maybe, just maybe) on the horizon, I'm just not finding the time. In fact, it's been my stretches of unemployment that have allowed me to write as much as I have. Once I find a regular day gig again, I'll be cutting way back on things. Unless, of course, I miraculously find a way to draw a reasonable income from music writing ventures. But as it stands now, we're tired of being broke all the time.
However, I might try to squeeze a non-jazz review in there, something to give me a break from jazz without walking away from writing altogether.
FWIW, I'm still planning to write more reviews for MiG, although I've been inactive for quite a few months due to a busy, busy schedule. I currently have 2 CDs that were sent to me by the artists that I am trying to find time to write something on, so that will be forthcoming but most likely will still be close to a month away.
I've also been thinking about the fact that most all my contributions to MiG have been in the folk category, aside from a tiny bit of baroque. I would like to expand that by submitting some pieces that are in different genres, so hopefully I can contribute more soon.
Craig, I just submitted a MIG piece for review. Not actually the piece I promised for this weekend, so there will be another very soon, but last night's concert was just too stunningly good to pass up writing about it.
Also not very strategic, if they think MiG is the best place to sell handbags. Mind you, being automated probably helps with both the relentlessness and the lack of intelligence.

I'm almost caught up on the tweeting. I've got three more article to go, which I'll spread out over the next three days.
Also, been occasionally tweeting a link to the emusers forum for specific threads. Drip.fm now follows us on twitter.
We also got an interesting request via Facebook that I'm working out with some folks.

What's the name of your site?

Did you know there are places you can buy 'authentic' sports jerseys? Or Cialis? Or watch naked ladies on webcams? I had no idea.
