Have to say I've found this compilation a bit disappointing. There are lots of artists on there that I like, and it's doing the kinds of things I often like, but for whatever reason it's not grabbing me.
More than three decades after its birth, The Pop Group are still going strong and performing on stage proclaiming that it was them, authors of the essential Y, who were the first to make post-punk and to transform it at the end of the seventies by fusing punk, funk, dub with highly politicized lyrics. Abrasive, primitive and guided by the fighting spirit of Mark Stewart, the Bristol band called it a day after their second album, For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? but, after a comeback in 2010, they are now back to spew out songs like We Are All Prostitutes and We Are Time into the faces of the crowd."
NP, my second album to mention the crumhorn in the title (although it is not the featured instrument). It bought this from Classics Online, which proved to be more trying than I expected.
Well it was a bit of a pain to get it from amazon, but at $4.99 for the deluxe version it was well worth it. And it's the very rare case where I'm enjoying the bonus disk as much or more than the album.
Free mixtape from OFWGKTA members. Very enjoyable thus far. I tend not to post hip hop/rap mixtapes in the free stuff thread because only amclark2 is likely to be interested, but if you want a link, let me know.
This arrived in the mail (further impressing me with the promptness of WistRec's shipping). 2 x 3" CD release, edition of 135 (mine is #110, so perhaps you should act now if interested), in a hand-stamped box with a collection of cards showing climate-themed photography. Nice music too! Not sure how to store it - not the right shape for the CD shelves...

Another gem discovered while cleaning and sorting my Amazon Cloud.
Edit: They have a new album due out in October, here is a new track, "Pyrakantha"

A tragically underrated new wave/post punk band.

Worth $.99 to me just for In the Air Tonight. Seems like a lot of good songs to me.

A classic.
One for those who like little weird noises. Quite accessible, though, I'd say.

Beautiful playing, but eMu's version pops on several tracks. I'm waiting to hear back from CS. I'll opt not to visit the board with this one.
