New mixtape from an artist I hadn't heard of until a track of hers was on Pitchfork's top 100 songs of 2015. This mixtape is sooooooo good. Free via Fader. Check it amc.
- "Mikael Seifu is an Ethiopian electronic music producer committed to “Ethiopiyawi Electronic” – a coinage Seifu uses to describe the music he and his peers are producing in Ethiopia’s capital city of Addis-Ababa. Mikael’s music does not westernize or electronicize extant Ethiopian music. Instead, Seifu uses Ethio-Jazz’s spirit of brewing estranged styles for his own musical tincturing."
Does anybody know how "Pogues" is pronounced? Is it Pogs (like Alf in Pog form) or Poe-gs?
"Pogue" rhymes with "Vogue" - "The Pogues" is a shortened form of "pogue mahone" which means "kiss my arse." Great band to see live!!! It's amazing that Shane MacGowan is still alive really - kinda like Keith Richards in many ways, I suppose. I read that he recently got a full set of teeth, which, if you've ever seen his old teeth, is pretty amazing. Also, pronunciation is here too.
All day with James Joyce. Various people (including Robert Anton Wilson, Joseph Campbell, Joyce himself and some individual performers of various segments) performing and talking about his works including Ulysses and Finnegans Wake. Every St. Patrick's Day since 1980 (including broadcasting it from 1980- 87), I've made it a habit to listen to John Cage's Roaratorio (including the hour-long discussion and his second writing thru the text). I've enough Joyce-related audio for a weeks' worth of listening nonstop.
Copy/ paste works (in crome and firefox.) - Or paste the image url into the tool that looks like a square clock. "undercover" urls: Higlight image and paste the url in the tool to the left of the square clock. It's also possible to upload images by clicking "choose file" Strangely, (only ?) in firefox there's also a image resizing tool. When you highlight the image some tiny squares turnes up in each corner.
This was copy/pasted from my previous post and stretched a bit:
Christopher Bailey: Composition For Shitty Piano
Gotta grab that album, this track is just so very funny . . . in a Zappa kind of way.
Skeleton Birds And The Number of God These Dark Roots of Heaven
After ’resigning from’ Volcano The Bear, this is Volcano The Bear founder member Nick Mott’s new group, continuing and expanding on the experimental precedent set by Volcano The Bear. Recorded outdoors at a disused quarry and on two farms in Cornwall. Environmental sounds, traditional and hand made acoustic instruments, voice-as-instrument, distortion and electronics. There is the trademark VtB wash of noise distortion punctuated by whiplash percussive samples and abstractions. A rumbling momentum of charged strings, churning amplification and atmospherics. Psychedelic Concrete Folk Noise…

Jaydiohead
Jay Z's lyrics with Radiohead's music. It actually works really well and is free.
@amclark2: It's Poe-gs.
