There are some nice electronic reworkings of Satie on this. And some really horrible stuff. Adding an obtrusive 4/4 backbeat to a Gymnopedie is not my idea of how to build on Satie.
@Doofy Wow, not sure I've ever heard that Bunnett Pullen collab. But considering how my favorite Pullen is with his African-Brazilian Connection and considering how much I enjoyed Bunnett's Maqueque afro-cuban project, that seems like something I really need to be looking into. Cheers.
@jonahpwll I only recently discovered it myself, going back into Jane's discography. There is another one too!
Neither is easy to find. This one opens with Jane on flute playing a fantastic version of Pullen's 'Big Alice.' We saw Maqeque at the Jazz Fest last year, really terrific.
