  • Seems like some new things have been dribbling into My Music today, including filling out previously partial albums. Hope so.

I will be happy to have an app, and will even sometimes use it, if my library reaches some reasonable state of completeness. Need to be able to make playlists though
  • That I am afraid BN is the way of the World now. Whilst I personally agree with you, for many people their access to emusic and other such sites is through tablets and phones. I'm finding their current Browse options extremely limiting. In jazz, for example, you have to plough through all kinds of reissues, greatest hits etc, before you find what you are looking for. I long for, eg, released this week - not just put on the site this week. Because new releases are generally put on the site during the evening UK and CET time by the next morning the New Releases Today have been added to New Releases This Week. A small point but it just adds them altogether with previous days. I did contact Support but got a standard reply.
  • There's a booster sale, sorry extra credit sale, until the end of the month with decent discounts. I can't make up my mind, as it would rely on some labels coming back or being updated...

No, your old music won't be loaded (at least mine wasn't - even though they did port over my old account and its .11¢ booster balance).

Same here, even though they said that in the e-mail (I had to ask them to port it), and I quote:

Please note, we have also copied over your save-for-later list and added past purchases to your My Music library, from which you can play or download all the music in your collection.

"Your Music Library Is Currently Empty"

    Yeah...
    Did they?

Did they add past purchases? Yes. It just took over a day for them to appear.
  • Good news (great, in fact)! Tzadik seems to be back in the U.S., and at (some) reduced prices. I purchased Terry Riley's Aleph, and all seems fine. The bad news: I tried purchasing "extra credits" - no dice for me right now. I have alerted the support staff. Let's hope this doesn't take long.
  • Booster credits purchasing still doesn't work. Wah!
  • eMusic finally sorted out my account, dropped a bit of courtesy credit and populated MyMusic. 44 pages, although I did not check on the one-track albums to see if anything was missing.

Quite a few things I forgot I bought, so it might be fun re-discovering my own collection such as it is. First purchase seems to have been Laura Cantrell, May 24, 2006. That does not seem right to me, two tracks from Not the Trembling Kind. Last.FM says I listened to them in 2009.

*8.99* at the new eMu. Yow.

Wonder if there's anything to be gained by asking support to "populate" my apparently stuck My Music page
  • Booster credits purchasing still doesn't work. Wah!
    ---
Silly question but, you paid the extra cash and the booster didn't work?
I ask because like Greg here in the formerly U.K. I got the proper 2-1 Booster email 2 days back, but I'm damned if I'm going to spend that when I won't even know if downloads work for me until Sunday when I refresh.
    cheers

I was able to download  purchases from earlier this week  no problem. I just can't give them my money for booster credits! I kept hitting the submit button, and nothing seemed to change.
  • by the way, it is very strange that for many albums, the per track cost for all individual tracks is less than the cost of the album itself. Very nutty!
  • Didn't that same inconsistency arise (per track vs. album price) back when emu switched from downloads to dollars?  I'm feeling a sense of deja vu with this thing.

News from @matt on the other board:

Good news.... eMusic will soon be implementing enhanced classical metadata to help make it easier to find and enjoy your favorite classical music. Check out blog.emusic.com to keep track of all key product updates.
    Jay !

    And the latest blog update:

Updated eMusic app now available on Google Play store.

    • Purchase Extra Credit using your Android device
    • See credit balance breakdown
    • For the first time you can buy extra credit through the Android app
    • See a detailed breakdown of your credit balance in the account page
    • Enhanced sort options
    • Improved error handling
    • Fixed issue where downloads were getting cancelled when connection was lost. They now resume when you come back online
    • Fixed issue where multiple downloads would crash the app

  • Hi chaps. Can someone remind me what the state of play is when you discover that you have previously bought an album but it doesn't show up in My Music. In this case it doesn't show up as being available full stop. Album in question is Anthony Braxton Quartet Standards (Brussels) 2006. Luckily I've just found the file on an external dive but it would be nice to have it on the cloud. Just wondering in case I discover other things I know I bought but are not on the new site. I'm guessing I could answer this one myself... In this case it is one of the most expensive Emu albums I've bought but then it is 6 hours long...

@djh Current status is bafflement w/ no answers forthcoming from the mgmt. Appears almost random what appears in My Music. Mine shows a lot of old purchases no longer in the store, comparatively few new ones that are in the store. As noted above, I'll probably soon contact Support and ask if they can "re-populate"
  • @djh Did you check the eMusic app? I have albums in the eMusic app that aren't in My Music on the website. Even some that don't show up on the website at all. It's really weird.
  • @Doofy Thanks for that, I sorta thought that's where were up to but as my music collection gets bigger my memory gets smaller. I've just got my first new site monthly renewal so I guess I should concenrtate of getting familiar with the new d/l system.:-)

  • Here are a few eMu responses on this matter:

"In the update between the old eMusic website and the new one, there was an exchange in the library of available content. As such, there may be material that was present on the former version of the eMusic website that is no longer present on the current version. However, there now exists content that was not previously available on eMusic. Feel free peruse our selection and scope out new additions. And keep an eye out for future additions (and also those that we offer before), as we are working with our content providers to add a significant amount of material from labels the likes of which have never been seen on eMusic before!"

    and my response:

    MAY 21, 2017  |  09:26PM EDT

"Thanks for the prompt response – I understand that certain product is no longer available. I’m more interested in why only partial albums show up when I have previously purchased the entire album (as described below). Thanks"

    Jason replied:

We’re very sorry for the late response. The issue you have described has been identified.

We have to move your case onto a specialist to review further. Please do note that they address cases as they appear in their queue, so we cannot guarantee when this matter will be addressed.

We will reply back as soon as this has been reviewed and resolved.

  • @stewrat But but but that evades the point that there is stuff in My Music that's not in the store and vice versa. As far as the latter point goes, maybe it's just me...I will contact them. As of a few days ago, the previous My Music Cloud library was still on line, and made for a useful reminder of the content that's missing.
  • Now the On-U Sound label has disappeared again (UK). Luckily, last month I managed to get an old African Head Charge album I'd been after for a while.

So, in my first post here I rejoiced at Warp, Mute & On-U Sound reappearing in the Beta & now all have vanished again & and Ninja Tune content has reduced by 66%.

My SFL/WL are down under 50 albums (& probably 20% unavailable to purchase) following a booster purchase last week & it's looking less & less likely I'll be finding stuff to add unless the Content Relations Team get off their thumbs...

If the sole reason for these labels going is the drop/return in price from 49p to 42p per track then I'm happy for an increase...
  • There's a pretty stark difference between the albums I've downloaded from eMusic in the last ten(ish) years and those showing up in My Music.

I understand that some albums drop off the retailer and others switch distributor/label, and so what was there before might not be there any longer.

However, it illuminates with a ringing clarity just how little use I have for emu's cloud or My Music or their streaming apps, and why the ability to download an album will always be the primary consideration when choosing where to purchase from.

All of these problems with albums not showing up or partial albums, etc, is a very bad look for eMusic.
  • First time in a long time that my account hasn't refreshed.  Perhaps the holiday weekend????
  • @stewrat My account was supposed to refresh on May 25 and didn't. I wrote an email to support on May 27 and they promptly added money to my balance. My account still says "Credit Refresh Date: May 25, 2017", though.

In other words: Sounds like a technical problem on their end.
  • Mine did refresh on May 23rd, so maybe a recent issue?
  • I'll try the direct email approach later today if it doesn't update itself.   Thanks

I'm having an ongoing conversation with Emusichelps at Twitter:

Saved for Later and Lists should be safely restored to your Wish List within hours. Keep updated here: https://blog.emusic.com/

My saved for later from the old site is still missing and all my comments on my other lists is gone. - This is just so very frustrating

Please DM us your email address.

    16. maj

Thanks, My email: xxxxxxxx . . . and only a fraction of the "my Music" has migrated

Just logged into your account. We're seeing 19 pages of content.

    17. maj

I'm also seeing 19 pages which is far from complete. I'm also seeing 5 albums on my wishlist and there were many on my saved for later.

    We're seeing hundreds listed here?

    17. maj

Just checked again. There's 5 albums on my wishlist, all added after the migration. . . . This is indeed mysterious

Please try logging out, clearing your cache, and then logging in again.

    18. maj

Tried in IE and Firefox, it didn't work.

Can you send a screenshot of what you're seeing?

    18. maj

I could, if I knew how to do it, but it seems to me that we are seeing the same thing: 19 pages of my music and 5 albums in wish list. . . And frankly, I am fed up wasting time with this.

Lets try this way. Check out this screenshot. Looks like hundreds of albums in your wishlist, no?

    18. maj

No ! ! ! - the wishlist is the first called "My Wish List" and with 5 albums 0 tracks in it . . . The others are the lists I made on the old site, such as my "2017 best of" list and so on . . .Dammit !

ETA: Just to be clear: "My Wish List" is supposed to be what was called "Save For Later" on the old site, and there was many, 100 or more. You really should know that.

My sincere apologies for misunderstanding. I'm going to have a member of our tech team look into it.

    19. maj

Ok, No problem . . . and I'm sorry for beeing a bit rude. . . . Could you ask them to look into "My Music" there's hundreds of albums missing, and what are the chances of getting my comments on my lists back ?

Hi ! is there ny progress ?

    Still working on it.

    23. maj

A week has passed and nothing has happened . . . Still working on it ?
    Today.

    - Not much help here, so far . . .
  • BN, my 'Saved For Later' (a version of it) appears among 'My Lists'. Sounds like that's not the case for you, but just thought I'd mention it. Like you, my 'Wish List' is just stuff added since the new site went up.

I actually printed out my old S4L - Have yet to compare. I think it has shrunk by about 1/4.
  • edited May 2017
There's no such list among my "My Lists"
    - What do they call it ? . . . Saved for later ?

    From the blog, may 16:
It’s been nearly a week since our official re-launch! Since launch, we’ve completed the migration of past purchases to Members’ My Music libraries and the migration of Save for Later lists to Wish Lists. We have also been listening to, and trying to address questions raised by our Members.

The S in Lists suggests that I also should have a list with my SFL but I don't

I refreshed on the 28th in old Blighty and it was ok. At that point I started creating a SFL list. 2 days later there are albums from ECM and Finders Keepers which I can't preview so I guess they're gone?
