Sadly, I missed my chance to download Settlers and many other Lost Tribe Sound artists, while they were available at Emusic. My music budget is easily used up there, now that I've been filling in many blanks, so I'll keep adding what I can afford till they're gone and then spend it somewhere else. $200 for $75 is too good a deal to pass up right now.
- Zvonimir Nagy’s ANGELUS is a singular journey into a
meditative state. Like the commemoration of annunciation, Nagy’s album
features music for thoughtful contemplation, using solo organ to create
delicate space for inner exploration throughout the life of the album.
Themes
of spiritual reflection are evident in most of the tracks. Inspired by
Philippians 4:13, “Prayer" features a melody that is moody, melancholic,
and mournful, a plea for forgiveness. Later on, in the back half of the
album, the seven movements of the “Preludes for a Prayer" embrace the
ambience created by Nagy’s solo organ performance. . . .
World Party's Karl Wallinger reminded me that I only had The Waterboys on vinyl, so I replaced them from Emusic with some bonus tracks added in. I sorta lost interest after KW left the band, but these first 3 were terrific!
I've got the soccer on now, game starts in 15 minutes. Important game as it will decide who England could play on Saturday (Third place game) or Sunday (Final). I never expected that we would be in the last four!
This takes me back 50 years or so to being a teenager in a local Blues club many Sunday evenings listening to various bands during the Blues explosion.
The great Emusic catch-up has finally just about polished off the M section. I've been enjoying the Gregg Bendian / Interzone projects a lot more this go round. I found this album to have all manner of depth and intricacy but if you want a skronked-up version might I suggest the following.
No sign yet of the Baby Trump Blimp in the skies over a subdued South East London.
A 1993 poetry reading CD was included in the Stand Up To Be Discontinued
exhibition book and later reproduced in the Pearls Before Swine book.
At the time, many found the recording shocking and upsetting. This was
the first time Don Van Vliet had been widely heard in public since
1982’s Ice Cream For Crow and the intervening 11 years had clearly not
been kind. He sounded far older than his 52 years and rumours of illness
seemed to have confirmation.
