Another case of E Music not having the latest release from an artist, it is available on Bandcamp and is really a really great jazz album
Well it looks like the album is on the Pink Bird Recordings "label" actually it seems to be more a studio than a label; it must be near impossible for Emusic to keep up with tiny projects like these (esp. if they are relying on 7 Digital for their files.) I presume the artist approaches iTunes and Bandcamp which is why the album is on those platforms? I'm no great fan of stoner jams in jazz but this album won me over. Likewise I could do without the talking but its a very good listen when it stretches out. Thanks for the heads up.
I know this is a famous show but is it still just a boot? I can't see it at Nugs.net (live bruce springsteen)?
@djh - it is a very grey area release. I agree nugs haven't got it. I bought this CD in HMV, but I suspect it is not sanctioned by BS. I've got several other shows in the same series, one I think I downloaded from Freegal, another from emusic. The quality is fine for the 1970s. I'm sure that I read somewhere that the proliferation of such recordings has led to 'official' releases via Nugs of all recent concerts and an increasing number of older concerts.
Of the series, this is the one I like best. Some of the tracks from this concert made the 1975-1985 live set, so I wonder if these recordings actually come from the sound desk recordings?
Solo vibes. Also, has an outfit called "Busnoys," which might ring some bells for those of you who've been checking out my recs since way back in the AAJ dotd days.
Welcome to SONiC Double Live, a collection of orchestral
premieres drawn from American Composers Orchestra’s ground-breaking
festival of 21st century music written by composers 40 and under.
SONiC—Sounds of a New Century presents a startling array of what young
composers are up to in this millennium of ours. In all, over 100
composers from six continents came together for SONiC. This album
features ten of them, with eight world premieres, all recorded live in
two concerts by ACO.
Man I love this album. So peaceful but it definitely has some edge at times. Looking forward to buying the CD next time I'm in Louisville. (received as a digital promo from a dude who reps a bunch of different genres)
First thing I've added to the new iTunes. I'll see if I got it to scrobble. I've really really enjoyed everything I've heard so far and look forward to adding this one from Emusic once I can get logged back in. Seems like the perfect time! Here it goes...
Ps. It took a while but it's scrobbling & I can finally get to Bandcamp (great reviews BTW) and Lastfm.
Back to 1969 and I'm a teenager again. Muddy Waters & what a band!!! Discogs
Ps. I couldn't count the times I've sat with this album on my lap waiting to flip sides as quickly and carefully as possible to keep from scratching. Some have made out better than others and this has the perfect amount of pops. It's still a great listen, made me do a lot more exploring back then.
PPs. Super Cosmic Joy-Scout Jamboree presented by The Phoenix Fellowship- an Academy of open enquiry designed to explore all the cultural concepts, with the idea of creating new approaches to ethics, religion, philosophy, art and science. Oh yes, and a nickel bag. pss...and possibly some Bergerac we'd tapped some stranger to buy at the liquor vendor for us. Those were the days

Just been playing some French OST from the late 50s and then moved on to this chap.
Which starts out as a global dub thang before turning into a bonkers Turkish heavy Psych album. Sometimes it's good to fall between two stools.
