The Acadia New Music Society is pleased to announce its first CD
project, featuring works by Maritime composers Anthony Genge, Derek
Charke, and Jerome Blais. This cd provides a glimpse into the range of
activity of Shattering the Silence, Wolfville’s innovative new music
festival — all works on the cd were commissioned and premiered at the
Festival by the Acadia New Music Society. Performers are the Resident
NBG Ensemble and the Acadia University Wind Ensemble, with guest solo
performers Tristan De Borba, saxophone, and Janice Jackson, soprano, led
by conductor Mark Hopkins. This live recording also showcases the
talents of NBG performers Gillian Smith, violin; Susan Sayle, viola;
Norman Adams, cello; Simon Docking, piano; Eileen Walsh, Clarinet; Derek
Charke, flute; Mark Adam, percussion.
”H” was an installation at The Cisterns in Copenhagen, Denmark, made by
Ingvar Cronhammar with original music written by Martin Hall. The
site-specific exhibition took place from the 3rd of March until the 29th
of November 2015, received a line of sublime reviews and was visited by
more than 90.000 guests.
The featured piece of music is an
excerpt taken from the composition “H” which lasts one hour in its full
duration. It’s written and produced by Martin Hall and the selected
seven minutes feature performances by Hall, Daniel Ostersen and
Lydenskab.
