"I found the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love - 2017 - far too
great of a temptation. I was in my early 20s, in San Francisco, stoned
out of my mind in 1967. But much of that music stayed with me. I really
wanted to do a cover album of music I often heard live at the Fillmore
West, or coming from a flat-bed truck in Golden Gate Park. It is easy to
romanticize youth, but let me tell you, 1967 was not a normal year. I
am so glad I was in the middle of it." -Hardy Fox.
From an Amazon review: "This lavish set documents a once-in-a lifetime concert dedicated to Jerusalem, with Jewish, Arab and Christian musicians boldly threading together musical traditions under the direction of Jordi Savall, the world's leading early music performer."
"Yes, strange. First writing music as one entity, then returning to the
same material as a different entity and writing new arrangements. But it
is actually kind of fun too. Truthfully I tried redoing a lots of
different pieces. I found it to be harder than I thought. I really
wanted this album to sound familiar but not too familiar. I think I
pulled that off. I have always liked writing arrangements for music by
other people, so why not redo some of my own tunes?" -Hardy Fox
Stereophonic Space Sound Unlimited is a Swiss instrumental duo which toys with influences of surf, electronics, library, and space age/exotica. Owners of 'Spooky Sound', a record store in Zürich, Switzerland.
Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble Donald Nally, Conductor Recorded in Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall on January 10, 2016 at the concert, Sound In Architecture.
Edit - I've really enjoyed spending some time with them so I'm adding this one as well.
2012 Originally recorded 2002 Ps - Terrific btw. This is where I would have listened to my Sir Richard Bishop collection - Thanks to @amclark2back in Aug 2014, but they are all on the broken hard drive. Something to look forward to when I finally get through listening to the current library. It can't get any more broken than it already is so I'll get it fixed some day (preferably when they invent the wand you just wave over it to transfer data). Beam me up.
So that's a quick trip starting in Iceland > Java > Quebecoise Canada > Switzerland > Nigeria and Japan (last album is Reiko Kudo's "Rice Field Suddenly Ripling in the Night"
I think I need to sit down with a beer after that lot. In fact...

Jordi Savall - Jerusalem. A great deal on eMu for two and a half hours of medieval music.
