The Cuneiform $5 offering from the weekend. Playing scraps of material discarded by Sun Ra in 1961. The tape fragment used featured Ra on electric piano, John Gilmore on tenor sax and flute, and Ronnie Boykins on bass. Not as much M.H. as I was hoping for initially (being on an M.H. kick at the moment) but already getting more on more interesting on second listen.
Listening to this again, it is very much an album of its era. Some of the tracks probably would not be recorded today. Even Imagine itself might be regarded as too simplistic. However, a great album in the early 1970s - amazingly for me it was recorded almost 50 years ago
I am having a bit of a Tom Waits week, just played Small Change.
I went through my collection this week and I am amazed how much of his I have got including a live album on a pressing from Japan which is still shrink-wrapped. My wife is making comments how big the collection is and about my CD towers again, when this happens I cannot really blame her.
This weekend's Cuneiform 1/2 price offering. What I call an UR Cuneiform release, odd time signatures, accordions etc. Definitely makes me feel like I'm slipping into some sort of parallel dream world.

One of my first eMusic purchases, a decade or so ago. Sweet-sounding "chamber jazz." Now out of print, I think, like many OJCs
- Fresh Cream
- Disraeli Gears
only $3.99 each!

Still a favourite of mine, forty years or so on.
