A trip down memory lane triggered by the syndrum sound that pops up at 1:07 of the first track of Steve Hackett's Spectral Mornings. Which in turn led me back to something I had completely forgotten - the hidden track with Pete Cook on the 12" single of Tryouts for the Human Race, which includes an extended commentary on the very syndrum sound that got this rabbit trail started...
Ps -well, I just finished listening to U-Neek and I just want to mention in spite the Sheffield '84 album was a poor recording quality with bad intros and endings, I still enjoyed the listen. I just can't get enough of his "Giddy bong bong, Giddy boing boing boing etc" style.
These last two are albums that I would not have discovered without eMusic. Over the last ten plus years I was a member it had an enormous influence upon my music listening habits, changing my tastes considerably. I'll miss it as it was, not as it is now.
@Brighternow That Patrick Shiroishi has some cool projects out there. I've written about him previously on my site, and will likely do so again at some point.
Now playing:
Benjamin Koppel - "The Adventures of a Polar Expedition"
-One of my all-time favorite albums. I have listened to this album countless times since it was first released (numbering in the thousands of listens), and it still resonates as strongly with me today as it did when I first discovered this sonic gift.
If you're not familiar with the band, they're similar to Western Skies Motel, but will more effects and the kind of distortion and warbling of melodies you might expect from someone like Loscil. It's beautiful stuff. Also, Lost Tribe Sound accompanies the CD with this book of gorgeous art. There's a cool video on their Bandcamp page that shows the book art...
Many thanks for the reminder Jonahpwll. I haven't played this in a while, yet I still remember the melodies well from all the previous plays. Thanks also for introducing it to me
"The structure of this "concerto" is a combination of contemporary Naghali (recounting stories), spoken word, and contemporary performance art. The actress here creates musical events with voice, body, and movement; a bit like a piano concerto that does not have an orchestra. For me, the Mise-en-scène functions like the orchestration of a piece."
My goodness - I'd have never guessed it, Lowlife. Have you recovered yet from Saturday. I agree with Alan Shearer that Pochettino made some selection errors with the two Harry's. But the early penalty effectively killed the game.

"A translation is given below the video for non-Persian speakers (sorry, no subtitles),
but the work...which is often declamatory and feels more like a play than music...can
still draw one in with its own cadences and dramatic curve."
