"Four
Pieces of Mirai" is an EP of new music out May 18th on the artist's own
label. "Four Pieces of Mirai" represents the prelude of a large epic
work about civilizational uncertainty that spans across four releases
due out this year. In this introductory prologue Ferraro reveals a
dystopian present, a society in servitude to its digital network in a
feudal bondage and Mirai a computer virus with a "denial of service"
malware system that attacks "Internet of Things" devices. in essence disrupting the hold of the internet on humanity. It is from this aspect that Ferraro weaves his allegory of technological plague, suburban decay, neofuedalism, hyper connectivity, social famine and virtual exodus explained through out the four release along with accompanying videos.
featuring
Ferraro's most integrated and deeply contemplative musical
statements, integrating elements of medieval music , Renaissance music to
ambient electronic music, and other musical anthropology along with the
conceptual frame work Four Pieces For Mirai paints a dramatic
realization of humanity at a crisis of technological abundance and ecological dysfunction, both musically and conceptually showcasing
Ferraro's artistic ability to translate the peculiar character of our
historical times into precise musical expression
the ideas that underpin the allegorical frame work of Four Pieces For Mirai are more timely than ever given the scale of our relationship with big data and shifting social structures both a meditation on the nature of artificial social media systems and a vision of mass online exodus Four Pieces For Mirai is the contemplative and poetic score of this new emerging reality
Today's Guardian has an article ranking Stevie Wonder's studio albums. I have no disagreement at all with this as their top choice, one of my all time favourites with one of my all time favourite tracks Sir Duke
Amazing value for any BS fan $9.99 for 35 tracks, or nearly four hours of the Boss at his best. I also downloaded the concert for two days later, both here . It is hard to believe that these two concerts were nearly 40 years ago!
2011 Jimpani Kustakwa Ka Jankwariteecherï Premieres of compositions written specifically for the ensemble by: Ana Lara (MX); Nels Cline (US); Juan Felipe Waller (MX); Pauline Oliveros (US); Joan Jeanrenaud (US); Vinny Golia (US); Jorge Torres Sáenz (MX); William Parker (US); Thollem McDonas (US)
Led by the founder and artistic director Thollem McDonas, Estamos Ensemble is composed of musicians from Mexico and the U.S. The intention of Estamos Ensemble is to foster more communication and collaboration between musicians of our two bordering countries as well as a better understanding of and appreciation for the citizens of our countries in general. The verb estamos in Spanish means 'we are' in the non-permanent sense. This is intrinsic to the nature of Estamos Ensemble. Each performance will be fresh in the hands of great improvisers and some of the most accomplished composers from both sides of the border. This concept is in the spirit of the project: always changing and open to new and different kinds of involvement. “jimpani kustakwa ka jankwariteecherï” is a direct translation of 'compositions and improvisations' in the P'urhépecha language mostly spoken in rural communities in the highlands of Michoacán, Mexico. The border between Mexico and the United States was not conceived of until the mid 1800s after thousands of years of people living throughout these lands. Before that 4.5 billion years of the planetary history had passed without the concept of controlled modern human land borders.
Well, many thanks for revisiting this post. I must have missed it first time around. "This is for people who likes extreme vocalists such as David Moss and Ghédalia Tazartès" Hey, that's me...thanks to you. Efstratios Demetriou - Demetrio Stratos
