    The Winery Dogs - s/t
(I will listen at least once to pretty much anything Mike Portnoy plays on.)
Image result for into battle with the art of noise
Very interesting to learn from the sleeve notes that these early versions of Art of Noise tracks were built among other things from leftover snippets of drum recordings from the sessions for the Yes album 90125.

ps - it took 6 tracks to realize I was in random play mode. Just restarting now...
  • Erosphère is absolutely incredible. One of my top fives. The others are outstanding too.

  • slightly left field but while searching through my Sonos radio stations found Linn Radio which is the radio from Linn Records. Both neighbours away and the sun in London is out so cranked up the sound and sitting in the garden.
  • @rostasi just love Brainticket. Got their "Celestial Oceans", "Psychonaut" and "Cottonwoodhill" albums on eMusic back in 2011.

My eMusic discoveries shown over on the "Still on eMusic" discussion.

A really eclectic mix of Holy Sons, Mavis Staples, Sun City Girls, The Field Mice and Trembling Blue Stars.

Now here's a coincidence. Just a few days ago I was listening to an episode of Flash Strap on the WFMU Give the Drummer Stream when your man was playing a lot of Coloursound tracks. I really enjoyed the Joel Vandroogenbrock tacks having only got the Brainticket albums and the two Coloursound Meditations releases. Mesopotamia-Egypt / Middle Ages and South East Asia all stood out. Mind you I also enjoyed the John Tender and Eric Vann tracks. Always nice to welcome a fellow traveller. o:)
  • Brainticket's one of those joys from the early 70's for me. Vandroogenbroeck's name came up last week when someone thanked me for the Jack Sels track on Random Radio 040. Sels was a Belgian saxophonist who died in 1970. I had erroneously thought that Vandroogenbroeck had played piano in his band, but I had my Belgian sax players mixed up - it was Jacques Pelzer he had played with (tho he did perform Sels' tunes sometimes). Anyhoo, it got me thinking again about J.V.'s light-hearted music and so the box-set came out of hiding.

  • @rostasi I only know Jack Sels as someone who played with Kenny Clarke.. very intrrested in this post war Euro jazz heritage.
  • I'd recommend this collection.

  • Well, worst summer weather...Ever!  Overcast with scattered showers again. It still smells great and
the lawn's growing like crazy but all the sun lovers are crying. Still, it's given me some extra time
to work through the alphabet. My visit with François Bayle has been great and I look forward to
part 2...unless the sun comes out,
then I'll get to it all a little later.

@greg - thanks for this reminder. Acc/to Last.FM, I have listened to very little VM in the last several years (zero for 2017!) This one is an overlooked gem in my library.

"1995.A dark room and a shelf full of bulky 8-track tapes. The boxes would sometimes proudly boast the title of an album like say "Crushed Velvet Apocalypse" in bold felt tip pen, but look closer and there would be a weedy biro
line through it and the word "session" replacing it.
Play the thing and it would be a big mix of the individual tracks for the proclaimed album ,a weird and wonderful jam and some events that were better left unheard.
Such were the building blocks of Cp 8 and 9.
Add to that the odd tracks from compilations, the songs from that elusive 3" cd tat came with initial copies of "Maria Dimension" , cassettes which left blew oxide flakes to the four winds and it can be seen that a serious journey could be taken here.
Lost bits of Shadow weaver, remnants of Maria sessions , scraps from 9 Lives are all here.
Damn it, thee's also "A Triple Moon salute" , which (along with "Damien") may be EK's personal LPD favourite.
Lastly there's the cover…..weird weird fishes EVERYWHERE -one of Elke's finest creations...
Take this brother, may it serve you well….."
