The cover makes me imagine some kind of sadistic metal thing. This is not that. It's more pop-prog. Nice stuff. Dislike the cover, like the music. Better than the other way around.
Thanks to reading the Dieter Dierks interview in Audion 67 had me digging out the cosmic/psych folk classic. Good to read that it was reissued properly last year. [EDIT or so I read, I see no mention of it on Discogs or the Ultima Thule store.]
One reviewer described this as "solid middle of the road prog" but also very pleasurable - that seems about right. nothing sticks out as exceptional but it's a very pleasant listen.
Not sure how I happened upon this (did someone here mention it or was it a bandcamp cross-reference?). Not going to post the quite disturbing cover art. But the music is quite beautiful. Ambient shoegazey female vocals - not usually quite my sweeet spot, but remarkably well done and free at bandcamp (not even NYOP).
(ETA it got a little dreary/samey toward the end, but I loved the opening tracks. YMMV)
One of the few recordings involving Bill Frisell to be available on the Live Jazz Lounge (he had all the ones with him as primary pulled from the site). Free download, great sound quality, really enjoyable so far. 2 hours 19 minutes.
One of the things that I find so wonderful about George Crumb is that you can put his entire recorded output on shuffle and it sounds like one very long piece.
@peterfrederics the download links are not easy to spot on LiveJazzLounge. Look for the title of the recording (usually the date and venue) just above the track listing and click on it - that is generally the link.

Thanks Doofy for the Wirlwind Records Bandcamp Friday heads up, part of my many purchases this weekend.
Tomorrow will be Syl Johnson’s day.
