  • Amie Street can be hard to predict sometimes. I'm surprised the new Raveonettes hasn't maxxed out yet. The band has a ton of buzz and the album is fantastic. Sure, it's only been a week, but still.

    (Maybe I'm just too impatient.)

@frogkopf: Do you live on the West or East Coast (or somewhere in the middle)?
  • Daytripper, just wanted to thank you for that Hey Marseilles recommendation. Awesome, awesome album. Really loving just about everything going on with it.
  • I'm from the land of 10,000 species of mosquitoes, along with cafreema, Wanderer, Raymond23, and amclark2 (I think).
  • nope. i did visit once, for a job interview, and liked it very much.
  • The former member of eastmountainsouth has a new album on Amie Street. Get it before the price goes up:

    http://beta.amiestreet.com/music/peter-bradley-adams/traces/

    It's still free.
  • Well I'm not sure just what a Peter Bradley Adams is but I think I'm not alone in hoping it really climbs. (hi kennykenny and frogkopf!)
  • @thom

Hey Marseilles are even better live. That album is amazing, but it's such a small piece of how great they are. They are getting better and better. Their next album will be even more incredible.
  • PBA was in a band called eastmountainsouth, who made the most beautiful folk music in the world. They put out one record on Dreamworks' music label and were featured on the soundtrack on that Cameron Crowe movie, Elizabethtown, but broke up soon after. PBA kept making music and his solo work has been incredible.
  • I think you guys owe me some of your REC money. I requested PBA's label to put this album on Amie Street and I will be making sure it maxes out.
  • On another note, I noticed that one of the Neon Indian tracks is now free. It had made about fifty cents. For those of you who REC'd it, did you get the fifty cents? It's a bit weird that they'd take away your potential to earn once it's started making money.
  • who made the most beautiful folk music in the world

looking forward to checking this out then!
  • Not from MN amclark2? Somebody who was a regular poster over at the other place is from Duluth.

Welcome to the world of mercenary RECing...
  • I once snagged an album that was free even though I already owned it, solely to REC the entire thing. Felt a little dirty, but didn't complain about the Street Cred!

Oddly the album was only up for a couple days then disappeared. So I didn't max out, but still made about $5.00 on it.

    Craig
  • What was the album?
  • Probably one of those Sarah McLachlan albums...
  • Exactly. It was Afterglow if I remember correctly.

The new Jonas Sees in Color is only $1.65 right now. Not really a fan myself, but I thought others might be into it. It's a Sony/RED release, so it started at $.15 a track and didn't show up on the new releases page.
  • Ugh! If that's what teen spirit sounds like these days, no thanks!
  • DAMN YOU JUJUBEEBOP!!!!!!!!

I was all set to pass you up by RECing every track on the new Peter Bradley Adams album while it was still free....

But in your wily ways, you too RECed every track while it was free, maintaining your 300 and odd change lead over me.

My plan was simple - leave you in the dust with broken street cred on your face, then bulldoze through drb, and finally past Dwizzle and powelllaw (who don't count anyway since they are affiliated with Amie Street) to claim the crown.....

Now my hopes have been dashed.

    I HOPE YOU"RE HAPPY!!!!!

Here's a good one from MN if you like Alt-Folk Everywhere To Go-The Lower 48. The singer kind of reminds me of woman from Flunk, but folkier.

I love the first song on this Ep by Eikon - it kind of sounds like Michael Penn doing Radiohead.
  • @frogkopf

I plan on passing you in Street Cred eventually. It won't be too soon, since I don't buy nearly as much music as you do, but my per REC average is phenomenal--twice yours and I've had a perfect record lately (everything has hit $.98).
  • ok, i'm very slow - even though you said it in the original post, i just grasped the concept that kennykenny = Daytripper. But I could have sworn that there was a Daytripper on emusic too? Oh well, maybe it was a Sunday Driver, yeah.
  • Note to DT -bring it on little man, bring it on.....

ac2 - it took you so long to find, but you found out.

kennykenny = Daytripper was pretty obvious if you've been watching Amie street, since pretty much anything that Daytripper has posted about here has been recently listened/RECed by kennykenny over there (but not by anyone named Daytripper), and both have both bragging about their kill rate in the same way here and on eMu.
  • froggie - Good REC on The Lower 48! I work with a woman who is friends with their moms (damn, I'm getting old), so I've been listening to that since it came out. Very good stuff.

    Craig
  • Breathing The Fire by Skeletonwitch just dropped over at Amie; it was on the eMu front page the other day. Cookie Monster vocal advisory however - I have to pass.
  • @BigD-Bluez Usually I am opposed to Cookie Monster vocal styling but I found the mix on the album quite refreshing as it had the vocals back enough that they became more of a texture than an annoyance. That said, the album had me feeling like I was a kid again back in the eighties listening to metal in my folks basement trying to work out arpeggios on my bass.
  • Wildbirds and Peacedrums - This is one of my favorite albums of the year. They do more with vocals and drums (and, often, nothing else) than I knew possible. It's still less than $2.
  • I listened to the first couple samples of Wildbirds and Peacedrums and quickly snagged it. Sounded mighty good.

    Craig
  • It kind of blows my mind. I don't quite know why.
  • I see Craig is getting all dirty again and RECing everything in sight....
