  • It could be the dreaded Helsinki Syndrome rearing its ugly MB head. He actually left a minimalist civil reply to one of my postings and now I'm starting to feel all warm and fuzzy. Oh nooooooooooooooooooo...............(intoned as Ozzy in the song Black Sabbath).

    It ain't worth it
  • If I had a dollar for everyone I heard (falsely) claim they had a PhD whenever they are called into question on the web, I'd have enough to go back and finish up my masters degree....
  • Helsinki? Did the kidnappers move from Stockholm?

frogkopf: I do not have a PhD. So if you ever see me claim I do, I owe you a dollar.

"Helsinki? Did the kidnappers move from Stockholm?"

Oops! Well, at least I was in the neighborhood. (sniffle) I never did get my PhD.

Edit: Am I correct in thinking that this Helsinki/Stockholm thing was in the stoner movie Pineapple Express I just saw a couple of weeks ago? I'm getting like deja viewed.
  • I submit as my humble evidence; the resolution now in evidence on the thread, and the fact that I included DanielEsq. in my original shout out - I've never had a quarrel with DanielEsq, and don't know anyone who has.

You must not have spoken with my opposing counsel.
  • Actually, I was recently reading some old eMusic thread, and I saw that the user named frankiepop told me to f---k off, that he wished eMusic didn't allow lawyers to vote in such-and-such poll, and so on. I don't remember having an argument with him, or what I said that agitated him, but I haven't worried about it, in any event.
  • You must not have spoken with my opposing counsel.

You and Craig both seem to reserve fighting for when you get paid for it. Overall a smart choice.
  • I do indeed do my best to limit my fighting to when it benefits me. I don't always succeed though!

Daniel, I can't say I disagree with frankiepop that a lot of lawyers shouldn't be allowed to do things. Some I've run into probably shouldn't be allowed to use up valuable oxygen. You on the otherhand, I'd like to see what you said to set him off, because I'm having a hard time believing you'd post anything that required that response!

    Craig
  • You don't have to say anything to set off frankiepop. It just happens.
  • Why is he talking to me? I've specifically avoided responding to him. What a pompous blowhard.
  • Who are you referring to? We have no idea.

Yeah, I'm pretty polite and low-profile on internet message boards (I read/post on three, including this one). I'm a litigator, so I have to argue on the job. I get no thrill from arguing about music online; talking, yes -- arguing, no.

On the non-eMusic related message board I read and contribute to, I do talk politics. And there, sometimes, I argue. I'm not sure if I ever posted anything political on the eMusic threads, but it's possible that I said something about politics (would have to be about the 2008 Presidential election) -- or made a snarky-type comment -- that upset him. FWIW, I'm left-of-center politically, and I also try not to be a jackass in political discussions.
  • So you're replying and then later turning your posts into dots? Do you have seventeen of them, yet?
  • I should count. I've been doing it off and on. It's an easy way to keep bumping old and useless threads while throwing off current ones.

It's mostly a symbol of the conflict between my desire to tell him to fuck off as well as my desire not to acknowledge him.
  • Try this. Or this (Play it *very* loud).
  • lol Tim. I may download that first one. I've played that sample about 30 times today.

Already got the second one 'cause I'm a MAINSTREAM kinda guy, ya know.
  • I understand completely, Daniel. I'm also a litigator, so I understand completely.

I do tend to get snarky though on message boards. I try not to, but sometimes just can't help myself.

    Craig
  • Yes, that first one is really nice. Never heard of Ana.
I've gone back to trying to ignore hiim but no doubt I'll snap before August runs out.
  • My desire not to acknowledge him most of the time stems from my belief that it feeds the pathology. I will definitely not argue with him - I think he likes to argue. The times I have reached my limit and gone off on him I stick to behavior, which generally in his case is not that easy to defend.

Actually, the first one - originally electricity's - was unintended (must have got stuck in the machine after I picked it up from the 'I'm done' thread). Here - I hope - is what I meant to offer.

I remember when Rice Pudding first came out, and I would alternate it with Safe as Milk at volume 11. guess my neighbours of that time felt about me pretty much the way a lot of people round here feel about W.
  • Gah! Thom, what's with bumping the "cafreema is a total dillhole" thread? For a brief moment I thought "what!?! why!?!" Then I realized I'd started the thread.

    Sigh, I need a vacation.

    Craig
  • Stuck in your machine. Stuck in my head. I dl'd it.

I'm sure it was Safe As Milk that did it.
  • dillhole

ha! I've never typed that before.
  • Ha!

I thought that one would lighten the mood a bit...
  • Peckerwood!
  • Evil chief!

I hope I can stick to this: everytime Wanderfuck posts something I must reply to, I'll post this

    ——————/´ ¯/)
    —————--/—-/
    —————-/—-/
    ———--/´¯/'--'/´¯`•_
    ———-/'/--/—-/—--/¨¯\
    ——--('(———- ¯~/'--')
    ———\————-'—--/
    ———-'\'————_-•´
    ————\———--(

Perfect for the old eMu board. If he wastes time, thought, and words to reply, I'll post it right back. Feel free to use it, but I would like to be the first one to post it over there. Thanks to froggy for the inspiration!

Nice! I had one a few years back that looked like someone bent over spreading their asscheeks toward the viewer. I'll have to see if I can find it.

Because a new outrage is surely just over the horizon.
