  • He doesn't deserve his own topic, much to his own chagrin.
  • Wesley said to apologize again. I used to like Wesley.
  • BigD-Bluez, a big thanks for your thunderdolt.
  • Hmmm, nobody posting much since we were 'outed' on the emu boards.
I guess I have just moved on. Don't consider them worth the time it takes to post. (Although I just posted, didn't I?)

I am more interested in the music, what I want to get with my precious nps as my annual is slowly winding down. That is taking a lot of thought and there isn't a whole lot about music on the eMu message board to help me these days. Oh, yeah, there are lists of great buys, etc., but I'm missing the thoughtful reviews that used to be there.
  • yeah - it's hilarious to see k dick it up - but it is only putting off the inevitable > when ray + wandy are the only two posters left.

    yawn.

    This.

Sidenote: choking on the irony of Wander and Raymond23 wanting all the "whinners" to leave so they can get back to talking about the music when in all the years I've been on eMusic, I don't think I'd ever noticed either on the message board until the Sony thing. Furthermore, I have seen great music posts from the exiles, the kind of posts which have been wholly missing since the exodus. Wandy and Ray can be my guest to start the music discussion back up anytime now, but I'm not holding my breath.
  • Yeah, Katrina is better at it than they are, and they don't get it.
  • I was already getting bored when the two of them felt the need to stir it up. The music discussions over here have been occupying my time, so they were easy to ignore. Ray's victim complex regarding Sony is just... I don't even know what. No matter how many times he's told, he just doesn't get that no one cares what he's d/ling. And I'm glad to see that Wandy has given up on pretending to be any better than anyone else. He never fooled those of us paying attention.
  • Hey mommio! When is your annual finished?
  • October 21. Got any good recs for me? I love those Avett Brothers. You mentioned October Project in a recent thread. Can you give me an idea of what type music?
  • edited August 2009
Haha. October Project for an end date in October? How fittng!
If I did mention them, it's because they're in my SFL. So I'm not the best person to ask about them.

Since you also like Greg Brown, as well as the Avett Brothers, my rec to you is track #10 from Jeff Black's Honey And Salt. I think I will use up me free booster on more Jeff Black. That's the only track I have my him, so far.

edit: Oh! I see you already have Tin Lily. How do you like it?
  • edited August 2009
K, you are very welcome - it was your finger art that inspired me.( Edit- Ahh, hadn't caught up to that thread yet - you are very, very welcome - now if only some electricity could be provided.) As to laying low, just on stay-cation - getting much needed and long put off things done around home. I just don't even want to contribute to the circus of those two dolts over there - I almost posted a rec for Dolt 2 and I stopped myself. Will just ignore until the next egregious BS event.( Ooops, it already happened.)
  • Hey, my annual is up Oct 25th. Who else is outtathere in October?
  • Katrina, Tin Lily is one of my better finds. My computer came with sample music, but I really hadn't listened to it. One day while listening to an eMu sample on WMP, I noticed names in the library that didn't ring a bell. One was Jeff Black, Hollow Of Your Hand (Track 2). I found him on eMu and downloaded immediately.

I like the lyrics. Sometimes I get caught up in the beat and forget to listen, but they are worth paying attention to. The songs range from quiet and pensive to rockin'. Good backup band. I would give it a 5-star rating. I have been trying to get a variety of music before I go, but I think there will be at least one more Jeff Black download. I will check out Honey and Salt.
  • Jesus, I just saw the latest additions to this thread. Those two are so disgusting. They are everywhere, and the more they post, the worse they get. God help the message board!
  • Yeah, Big-D, I'm regretting my assistance to Ray-Ray on the Blues thread. I guess I was hoping that enough recs might keep him focused on music, but now he seems to be focusing himself on being one cheek of an enormous ass.

As for Wandy--his true colors were apparent weeks ago, but he's apparently lost it lately. The self-righteous BS that he spews justifying his bad behavior leans to the psychotic. My guess is that if one were to encounter him in the real world it would be painfully obvious who he is. The gentleman needs to get himself some help.
  • I think it was '68 remarked that the internet allows you to express yourself in ways that you can't do in everyday life. That's true, but it isn't always a boon. If you allow yourself to become entrapped in an internet persona that springs from psyche's fault-lines, it can have debilitating consequences. Craig says Ray23 is a good guy: he's not doing himself any good at the moment. As for W, he's playing with fire. Both of them should get the hell out of there, for their own peace of mind. And it's not pretty for the rest of us.
  • Those interested in October Project, at least grab "Bury My Love" and "Return to Me" off their s/t debut. The latter, in particular, brings back bittersweet high school memories... They make very haunting alternarock music. Think a cross between Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos with almost operatic vocals.

The key to Internet forum behavior is John Gabriel's Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory.

electricity really nailed them again in that thread. They refuse to acknowledge that it was their behavior, not their musical preferences, that caused such a backlash.
  • "Jesus, I just saw the latest additions to this thread. Those two are so disgusting. They are everywhere, and the more they post, the worse they get. God help the message board! "

Fuck 'em. They can have it. I'd really like to see what that place would look like if all the "respected senior members" R23 keeps disparaging really did leave.
  • Truce thread. Includes emusers in his requirements.

I have always said what I wanted, where I wanted, and I ain't gonna stop now. At this point, I have no intention of ever replying to either of them again.
  • And he has now edited out all his gross remarks on the Katrina thread. They are not edited out of my memory.
  • "You are correct, Raymond, I agree with all points.

(But, be prepared for disappointing results.) "

Funny that he's agreeing to a truce, but feels the need to "snipe at the other side" at the same time.

I have no interest in agreeing to anything. This is not a war. We are not organized sides fighting a battle. We are all responsible for our own actions. I'll continue to act in the exact same manner as I have been - discussing music, discussing the pros and cons of various sites, and calling people on their bullshit.
  • The ironic thing is that not only have Ray23 and Wanderer dominated the emusic board, but you have allowed them to dominate this board too. This is by far the most active thread on this board. I thought this board was to avoid all that nonsense and get back to discussing music. I'm not seeing a lot of that, I'm just seeing more posts about Ray23 and Wanderer, only from an opposing viewpoint. But it's still all about them. I understand people are angry, but if you allow them to prevent a return to the boards of old by continuing to focus on them, much is lost.
  • Some posts in this thread have nothing to do with them. Furthermore, if you take a good look, you will see quite a few threads and many posts about music. Widen your focus.
  • Some don't have anything to do with them - but the vast majority do. And I have taken a look , and I see a few (not quite a few) music threads, some of which I have participated in if I felt I had something useful to say. But if this is what the Golden Boards of Emusic looked like pre-Wanderer and Ray23, I'm a bit disappointed. They are talked about in such hallowed terms, I expected more.
  • Aw, I slept through it. Just as well. No, there was a lot more music talk on the eMu boards before the eMu plan changes.
  • Unfortunately, the eMu threads disappear after a period of time. Do searches on older albums and some of those threads will turn up in searches. Look at only the jazz or classical boards. Some of our regular posters are gone, a couple because of the mess the eMu board turned into. The only time the boards got really ugly were in response to the dissatisfied newbies, and then it was a few who got nasty with them. How long have you been at eMu?
  • It's funny that in even calling the truce, R23 still posits himself some sort of message board maven who is setting the ground rules for others to follow. Neither of them have much humility.

In the long term, they are just a blimp on the radar.
  • How long have you been at eMu?
February 2006, but like many others I didn't pay any attention to the message board until all the problems began. But it soon became obvious to me that
there was a lot of knowledge there (and here) and that I should have paid attention to them earlier, that I had missed something good. Hoping to recapture that.
  • Feathers have been badly ruffled. It will take a time for us birds to get our plumage back into prime condition, and you will hear the odd outbreak of cawing and whistling while we're going about it. Take no notice; follow the trail you came looking for. If it turns out not to lead you to a place you want to go ... the internet is a big place.

On the eMu boards, you can fish for the posts that kargatron has been associated with: I think you'll find meat on them for you to chew on.
