This is my second time through and I'm still not sure what I think. Certainly enjoyable, but certainly not Set Yourself on Fire. As for where in that vast range it falls....not sure.
Also not sure why eMu got it a day early, but I'm not complaining.
Found this on vinyl last summer - took me till now to get the old record player set back up and have a night when I could listen without waking the sleeping kids.
Glastonbury coverage on TV.
So far - Florence and the Machine (as expected), Gorillaz (disappointing), Dizzee (surprisingly good), Vampire Weekend (ho hum) and Snoop Dogg (funny).
Nothing outstanding yet - well, not in the TV coverage anyway.
edit and update -
gig of the night - Groove Armada (took the roof off, I've never seen a crowd jump so much)
outstanding song of the night - Plan B, acoustic version of She Said, performed with a human beat-box whose name I didn't catch (and I don't even like Plan
- Fantastic album - also mentioned at the (close to) one man operated Ubuweb "discussion".
- From the album page:
Includes "On the Other Ocean," one of the most gorgeous, elegant works for interactive electronics ever recorded. Maggi Payne and Arthur Stidfole's playing perfect incite Behrman's digital plane. Although the CD may have been released in 1996, the works were recorded at Mills College in 1977.
Brighternow - I had that one in my saved for later - then it switched from 2 credits to 12 with the IODA switch. I think I'll pick it up at limewire sometime. I do plan on getting some of that ubuweb stuff - I'm just saturated right now.
listening to the New River as it hums northward, unwinding the daily coil that had tightened around my soul,
listening to the birdsong choir as it sounds the maternal bliss of nature wrapping its arms around the waking yawn of a mountain morning.......
kick out the jams, motherhuggers
Checking out Shangaan Electro: New Wave Dance Music From South Africa via NPR's First Listen. Damn, that is some catchy shit. Comes out July 6th on Honest Jon's - maybe it'll be on eMu. I've got to rejoin to snag that new Soundway comp anyway.
Here, here elwoodicious. I'm crossing my fingers that her album will still be on sale when I refresh in a couple of weeks. It's a must download for me.
Oh, and thom, there's not too much shame in liking Kylie Minogue.....
Often times I listen to an album a fair amount immediately after release, but eventually it drifts into being forgotten. This one is seriously staying with me.
Super Duper Love by Sugar Billy
It's criminal that this album is less than $1.30. Do your self a favor and get this if you like you Soul hot and your Funk chunky.

One of the first things I ever got from emusic.
The Indian smiles, he thinks that the cowboy is his friend.
The cowboy smiles, he is glad the Indian is fooled.
Now he can exploit him.
