I just pulled up a playlist with everything purchased this year and have it on random. Flying Lotus to White Rainbow to Robinella. Makes absolutely no sense, but it's fun.
I've been streaming the Rounder catalog at Lala, where their albums are $7.49 -- easily the cheapest price for Rounder downloads -- before Lala closes. I figure that any album with more than 16 tracks is a bargain. I've always wanted this PEI comp.
jazzy twists of pop with prog moves and sprinklings of noise and heavy.
a trumpet weaves in and out of most songs; if sunshine could whistle, it would sound like that damn trumpet
Pink Floyd - Meddle - One Of These Days (5x in a row (...so far)) ... (tip o' the hat to F.K. for pointing out the availability of this via Guvera (btw: don't understand that site at all. Registered a month or so ago and after filling out the requisite interests and whatnot had absolutely no clue about how to 'work' it..... after frog posted about the availability of Pink Floyd there the other day I logged back on and finally figured it out enough to download this and a bunch of other early Floyd tracks))
Anyway, something about this song has always resonated with me.... it's been 20+ years since I last listened to it (23 x successively then, i think).....anyway, glad I actually have a copy now. A couple more listens and I should be good for another couple years.
tangled electric 12 string phrasings on a trebly finger plucked plane.
it doesn't vary much but it grooves plenty
sort of strange combination of Tony Mcphee, Mark Knopfler and a bar band with chops and a mind of their own.
rekindles faith in the simple powers of guitar.bass, drum and voice
currently a whopping 1.80 for 60+ minutes on amie
Scarab-In Difference
anvil sandaled belly dances and fuzzy booted tangos;
uncomfortable yet strangely exhilarating, like taking a wrong turn in a foreign city just as the sun sets.
Now beginning an afternoon of Juno Reactor and wishing that my life were more like that of a protagonist from a Neal Stephenson novel and Pistolero was the soundtrack to my existence.
Excuse me while I gas up the minivan and commence Operation Huggies Replenishment. :-/
Mulatu Astatke Steps Ahead
Love is your family eating breakfast to your taste in music with nary a complaint and your toddler nodding her head in time to the music as a sign of approval.
No idea why they named themselves Holy Fuck because it doesn't really fit their music. This album takes awhile to build, but has great moments once it does. Now I'm back to random 2010 purchases which followed up some classic Carla Thomas with... Front Line Assembly? Should be an interesting afternoon.
floaty floydian twiddles and hawklord chord moves with the occasional straddle on the noisy avant edge.
sticks a little to close to formula to stimulate the mind into anything resembling a blowable state; however, the ticket is cheap and the ride does take some interesting turns.

Listened to this all the way through on 2 days of driving this weekend:
A true career retrospective and a clinic in songwriting. Made me realize how long ago he started writing country songs! Also, especially in his more recent stuff, he does things with fractured lines/complex rhyme schemes that I'm not sure any other pop songwriter takes on. And of course, always witty. I started out Dl'ing songs to fill in gaps, of course it wasn't long before I'd paid in enough credits just to get the whole thing.

Also found out Buster Williams maintains a pretty busy Facebook page! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Buster-Williams/44915373251
