'Uchuu' is a japanese word for universe. It is about acceleration and regeneration. The album is born a year ago, following a collaborative project to put in music some of the latest scientific facts. However, 'Uchuu' is not about space and cosmos only, but about what surrounds us, and what makes us human. As we are all part of this acceleration and regeneration process, just as much as we are all influenced by it. Sometimes, it's beauty. Sometimes, it gets frightening, unsettling at least. 'Uchuu' is all that, and more, I hope.
I read this article on Stylus, then this interview, and then just had to get the album, which I'm loving (even if it is in crappy compressed mp3 form). If nothing else I strongly recommend the article.
Thanks to @amclark2 for rec'ing the first volume of The Indestructible Beat of Soweto, I bought the second and fourth volume as well. Where is the Third? No one seems to have it, maybe it does not exist.
I was just watching Ocean's 13, whose music I love, and decided to check out what was on YouTube. I discovered a whole bunch of '60s British incidental music that was released digitally in 2009.
...The mid-1960s were KPM's golden years. Robin Phillips-head of KPM after Desmond Irwin-launched the KPM 1000 series (fondly known as "Greensleeves," due to the uniform dark green LP covers) introducing writers from jazz, pop and other contemporary fields. During this time KPM music became the sound of modern television with themes like Monday Night Football's "Heavy Action" which are still instantly recognizable. The library's repertoire and recognition grew exponentially.

A more beat-oriented solo project for guitarist/vocalist Mark Nelson of Labradford, Pan American debuted with a self-titled album on Kranky in 1998. Nelson recorded a track for the British experimentalist-electronic label Fat Cat's Split series, and also played live with pedal-steel genius B.J. Cole. His second Pan American LP, 360 Business/360 Bypass, appeared in early 2000 with collaborations from Chicago trumpeter Rob Mazurek and the members of Low.

Seriously eclectic R&B/Soul/Funk/etc. with some fantastic hooks. The only song I really don't care for is the one featuring of Montreal.

Seems like the best thing for a hot day in NC.
Hot sounding American take on West African music.
This is summer.

As my mom would say, "Lordy, Lordy, Beck just turned 40!"

Sunny funk.
Three compelling compositions, very well performed. This recording solidifies in my mind that Innova engineers don't know what bass is.

Marcin Wasilewski Trio - "January"
It has been a long day. I am alone. It is raining. This is playing. It's what I need at the moment.
This album makes me feel like I am single, live in LA, drive a fast car at night, and have a full head of hair.
Unfortunately I won't be able to listen to track 3 until tomorrow. Damn you Guvera!
