Schütz is a recent discovery. That is to say I discovered I bought an album of his music among a flurry of classical that came down the pipe at Amie, and didn't get a chance to listen to it until recently. Here's my second, more thoughtful purchase.
This album revealed to me my next career: selling taquitos and papaya drinks from a pedal cart with a mobile soundsystem in seaside tourist towns in Maine.
Breaking out an old script I haven't used in a while:
Ted Nash - "Cheryl's Theme" (The Mancini Project, ) David Bowie - "A New Career in a New Town" (Low, 1977) The Nels Cline Singers - "Forge" (Initiate (live), 2010) Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto - "Vivo Sonhando (Dreamer)" (Getz / Gilberto, 1963) Chris Burn & Simon Fell - "Live at Another Timbre mini-festival 2010-01-21 (excerpt)" (Another Timbre live downloads, 2010) Cuong Vu - "Expressions of a neurotic impulse" (It's Mostly Residual, 2005) Charles Mingus - "Girl Of My Dreams" (Mingus Ah Um, 1959) John Butcher, Phil Durrant, Peggy Lee - "Five Intentions" (Intentions, 2001) Christian Wolff - "Summer" (American String Quartets 1950 - 1970, 1972) Matana Roberts - "Nomra" (The Chicago Project, 2008) Phill Niblock - "Phill Niblock - G2, 44+ -- x2" (G2, 44+ -- x2, 2002) London Winds - "Ten Pieces for Wind Quintet (1968)/II. Prestissimo minaccios" (Ligeti: Chamber Music, 1998) Prince - "In This Bed I Scream" (Emancipation -- Disc I, 1997) Olivia Tremor Control - "I Can Smell the Leaves" (Dusk at Cubist Castle, 1996) Nine Inch Nails - "Right Where It Belongs" (With Teeth, 2005) Ratatat - "Bare Feast" (LP4, 2010) Art Bears - "The Song of the Martyrs" (The World As It Is Today, 1980) The St. Petersburg Soloists - "Octet" (Galina Ustvolskaya: Trio, Sonata and Octet, 1994) Keith Rowe, Thomas Lehn, Marcus Schmickler - "Segment 37" (Rabbit Run, 2003) Thelema Trio - "neither from nor towards" (Neither from nor towards , 2008) Robin Holcomb - "Deliver Me" (Robin Holcomb, 1990) Danielson - "Runnin' To Brother (Live w/ choir at Real Art Ways, Hartford" (Danielson Alive, 2008) Nicolas Collins - "Anthony Coleman, electric organ 1" (100 of the World's Most Beautiful Melodies, 1989) Akira Rabelais - "(void) 14" (invalidObject Series (void), 2000) Glenn Phillips - "Rain Tonight" (Elevator, 1987) Donald Byrd - "Sudwest Funk" (Off To the Races, 1958) Stile Antico - "Antiphon: lam hiems transiit" (Song of Songs, 2009) Alan Pasqua - "Wicked Good" (The Antisocial Club, 2007) Henry Mancini - "Something for Cat" (Breakfast At Tiffany's, 1962)
Heh. I used to do some simultaneous listening with 2 or 3 winamp instances with some eai (electro-acoustic improv), stuff that was highly "sonic" and not structured. That often sounded quite good. Another good overlap was that stuff with middle-eastern or asian ethnic music. But no, that's just a mundane shuffle-play sequence.
I won't do this too often, too easy to crowd the thread with long lists:
Thelonious Monk - "Coming On The Hudson" (Live at the Five Spot 1958, 1958) Mekons - "Abernant 1984/85" (Fear and Whiskey, 1985) John Coltrane - "Aisha" (Ol
Rainy, sleepy day; track seven, "Ready to Begin" is just about perfect for day dreaming about my taquito push cart with mobile soundsystem (@amclark2, take it for a spin!).

CocoRosie - Grey Oceans
Obviously they are a bit polarizing, but I find this album beautiful.

I feel like the mix CD I'm making needs a Polvo track, but can't pick one out...

The Heavy - The House that Dirt Built
Dirty blues and R&B infused rock that is good for far more than just a car commercial.
On sale for some reason. 11 tracks for 6 nps.

Christian Zan
Great crazy lo-fi Middle East free jazz. Avail at Amazon, doesn't appear to be on eMu.

Frontier Ruckus - Deadmalls & Nightfalls
I listen to way more country and bluegrass inspired music these days than I ever would have thought.
Could just be my stomach but Detroit techno would fit well on a mobile soundsystem attached to a taquito pedal cart.
Still pedaling that cart...
