I wonder if there's any cross platform thinking going on here? I'm certainly more interested in EMI stuff than I was before, and have some things in mind that would be good to catch with album pricing if/when they showed up on emusic that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. And there are a lot of things that I didn't manage to get that I'll be looking for.
Well, no use crying over evaporated milk I guess - glad I got a few this morning, and the last week's acquisitions were truly sweet, and free?!!, that is just too cool.
Although, if I had thought they were going to be among the last I might have rethought those 2 Saxon tracks. C'est la vie.
how we (think we) know: I had 31 tracks available for Blue Note/Capitol stuff this morning, now I have zero, and I didn't download anything yet today. And they don't seem to have transferred to any other label either.
Bummer. I downloaded four out of five tracks from Lee Morgan's "Search For The New Land" with my remaining DLs today. Oh well. If it really is over, I'll happily pay Guvera $1.59 for that last track to complete the album.
Anyone have any nominations for the weirdest thing they've downloaded(from the hey, it's free category)?
I thought it was: I Put A Spell On You from Marilyn Manson, but I'm Going To Booglarize You Baby from Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band, from Captain Beefheart Live At Bickershaw 1972, just ran away with it.
That was way too much fun. Do any of the corporate sponsored channels actually refresh? I didn't get a chance to finish my Jackie McLean, and I can be a patient man for free.
Talk about a high maintenance download though. You have to rewrite the tags, find album art, and then sometimes renumber the tracks. I have never used Monkey Media so thoroughly with a fresh download.
Argh! Don't mean to complain about the generosity, but I was really looking forward to one more day to search for missing tracks from albums (and maybe get one or two I forgot about). Now I've got to go back to waiting for some credits to appear again...
I found it odd that they seemed to do a bunch of advertising for it on Sunday (checking Facebook and Twitter) and then killed it on Monday. Regardless, I'm d/ling as much as I can right this morning. Not giving them the chance to ungift!
I wonder if it was just a technical glitch. They really don't seem that interested in limiting the freebies. Or it could be that there's a system-wide limit per day - and it wasn't until they put the info out on some social networking on Sunday that it started to be reached.
Eh, whatever. I got to hit them up for Sondre Lerche and Keren Ann after realizing they were under EMI. Now I remembered Brian Eno... I should try to fill in some holes today first.
thom: I meant to ask, was the Goldfrapp track you couldn't find "A & E" off of Seventh Tree? I ask because it took me a bit to find that one, but I did end up finding it.
@Craig - No, I own Seventh Tree on CD (aside from the first track, an amazing album). "Beautiful" I think from Black Cherry) is only available on a non-EMI soundtrack. I'm trying to go through all of my recent d/ls to figure out which songs can't be found on the site at all.
On autopilot.
Don't know what I'm doing.
Download a Sugar Hill album.
Get some Blue Note.
Today:
Simple Minds, Once Upon a Time (no laughing--see above for explanation)
Jackie McLean, Action
Bobby Hutcherson, Stick-up!
Kenny Dorham, Trompeta Toccata
Duhks, Your Daughters and Your Sons
FYI, I just signed my wife up for Guvera as a new user, she got 15 or so songs from the usual suspects along with the 31 September downloads. And she is enjoying the Lee Morgan Blue Notes. I might even let her listen to them sometime.
I'm a sucker for the shorter albums myself. But even if the promo ends tomorrow, I imagine there will be other opptys coming along soon.
Funny to think of involving my wife in this madness. She would have absolutely zero patience for the Guvera experience, which I suspect puts her among the majority of the population. But maybe if I told her she could get Simple Minds!

Check it on Amazon. Morgan the Pirate is 99 cents, although you might need th first actual track, which is $3!

Logged in at about 11:30 Eastern and the 21 I hadn't gotten to were back. Finished off the rest of the deluxe Tull - This Was. Hope for tomorrow.
The Sixth Sense (1967)
Track 3, Psycheldelic, appears on Righteousness
Track 4, Afreaka, appears on African Rhythms
Taru (1968)
Caramba!(1968)
I started Live at the Lighthouse, a three CD set, 13 tracks. Hopefully it is Christmas again tomorrow.
I also added a few non-BlueNotes from eMusic to nearly complete the Lee Morgan discography (per Wikipedia).

Now I have two left. Any 2-track Blue Note albums out there?
