I'm actually doing just about the opposite of what I said. Probably going to d/l Kraftwerk's Trans Europe Express even though I already own it so that I can have the new remasters of all their albums. I already did that with Radioactivity, but that one is on vinyl and my turntable hasn't been set up in a few years. Listening to Bowie's Ziggy Stardust might lead me to grabbing the full 30th anniversary copy, also.
Also, for those who remember Timbuk 3, some really good stuff there.
I didn't check to see if those dB's albums were complete because I already have 'em on CD, but it looks like there's just one track (Soul Kiss) missing from Repercussion. The other two are all there.
thom - I figured that was the case. Still can't figure out who you'd be spiting if you did it though. Both Trans Europe Express and Ziggy Stardust have already been downloaded by me. Haven't had a chance to listen to them though to determine if the remaster is worth it.
Bad Thoughts - Thanks for pointing out the Dr. John. I'd searched for his stuff, but hadn't clicked on any that were available on the promo.
Dr. John, Mercernary
Altan, Blue Idol (8 tracks only)
Bobby Hutcherson, Oblique
Jimmy Smith, Back at the Chicken Shack
@Craig: I'm not sure how I happened upon it, but Blue Note Mark II has more 'pop' albums, like Dr. John. I've jsut been searching using Amazon and Keren Ann.
here's an interesting looking Stockhausen album - the first six tracks alone make about 98 minutes worth of music - the first review at amazon makes this out to be terrible in a way that I think I might love.
More meandering - Merle Travis and Joe Maphis link - for a classic country gittar fix. Not finding a lot of old country so far. Speaking of old country thanks for the Altan find, BT.
I believe my father helped Altan out when they first came to the US. Put together one of their first gigs over here because they didn't really have any money.
The only thing missing on the dBs' albums are a couple of bonus tracks that appeared on the later CD editions of Repercussion - neither of which are essential.
Their first two albums were constant companions during my college days, along with the Clash, Elvis the C, the Squeeze and the like.
Some kind of box called The Eddie Cochran Story, 5+ pages, link, also a decent Gene Vincent disc - link, and finally Rock'n'Roll 151 Original Hits - link.
The Complete Johnny Kidd Vol. 1 & 2 - link.
@ Daytripper: Not that I know of. This is a great time to join. Lots of free credits given every day. My only tip: Download non-EMI tracks first. The 31 they've been giving every day only work on EMI, so use the first 10-20 on something else.
Thanks for the tip! RIght now, it's broken for me. So I'm going back through this thread here at emusers and I canNOT wait to get the old Pink Floyd that I only have on vinyl. And Roxy Music. It broke when I searched on Pink Floyd...
does it time you out?
Oh and you beta testers got a deal...well, you got more tracks for signing up. I got 2 tracks. Calgon channel was showing 1 credit. I think I am going to change my demographics to younger and less money and see what happens.
I've had it stop responding to me from time to time. Usually end up waiting 5-10 minutes and it starts back up. Definitely play around with your profile and make sure to max out the check boxes in each section. You should definitely be able to get 10+ credits.
They seem to have weirdness the day after they post info about the free credits on Facebook. Most likely they get overloaded.
Craig: I was a child of the era, and the Feelies were like a thousand other bands--they reinvented Rock 'n' Roll on their first album but didn't know where to go from there. Most of them ran out of gas quickly. Others embraced various hybrid music styles (see Talking Heads) or went straight out pop.
eta: I don't know if you would like it or not, but check out samples of Architecture and Morality by OMD. Their earliest incarnation built directly onto Kraftwerk's legacy, using lots of cool synth washes and ambient passages that would have no place in their later singles.
I've found a bunch of great stuff from IRS Records, though some albums are sadly incomplete. This link was helpful to jog my memory about some of the great bands from that label. This morning I got the Bears second album, which I've been looking for on CD forever, and some Let's Active. I also had a link to get ten extra tracks (back up to 31 for the day) by listing some of my favorite brands.
The Vanguard stuff is becoming frustrating. When 1 of 6-10 tracks is missing from a Blue Note album, it's easy to track down. The Vanguard albums can be missing half their tracks!
Today:
Dr. John, N'Awlinz
Andrew Hill, Lift Every Voice
Think twice about passing up:
John Hammond, Ready for Love (wish they had Wicked Grin, the Tom Waits album)
Eliades Ochoa, Tributo al Cuarteto Patria
@Thom: are you the Hot Chip fan? How do you feel about Made in the Dark? I didn't like the samples of the previous album, but liked the darker, murkier sound of this one, but I'm a little scared off by the Pitchfork review.

Maybe they are cutting them so they will have enough to dole out the rest of the month.
Currently listening to the album.
How in the Sam Hell have I never heard these guys before? This is freakin' brilliant.
Craig
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you going through potty training when the album initially dropped and were focused on other things?
Maybe they are rationing.
I have it now though, so all's good.
