  • I've gotta agree with CaptainWrong - first listen was kinda meh, but the more I listen, the more I appreciate how great this new album is. Definitely a return to form. I was not a fan of Hello Nasty or To The 5 Boroughs.
  • 6 downloads left. Any album recs I could get for that? I was thinking some real good essential jazz.

    Loving this guvera thing.

Welcome to emusers! Do hang around and tell us what you're listening to.
I enjoyed Duke Ellington & John Coltrane - Duke Ellington & John Coltrane, though it's 7 credits so not totally helpful - but I hasten to add that I am a long, long way from being one of the jazz experts around here. I am sure others will have more recs.
  • Welcome!

    Some ideas:
    Stick-up by Bobby Hutcherson
Dance with Death by Andrew Hill
    Sidewinder by Lee Morgan
  • I'll second the Lee Morgan and add Grant Green's Idle Moments.
  • OK - I don't want to panic anyone but a couple of my channels are missing and, when I look at the master list of channels, there are also a couple missing. Is this an indication of pending new credits (like what happens at month end), or is it a sign of the apocalypse? I suppose there are other options aside from those two...but what do you think?
  • Indeed, in the past disappearing channels have been a harbinger of new activity incl new credits. Last week their founder was tweeting about a pending relaunch.

Surprisingly, the Scripture has little to say on the topic of ad-supported music downloads.

Are you sure you're reading it the right way? I bet if you take the original Hebrew/Greek and read the letters diagonally and make English words out of them it will tell you the date of the Guvera relaunch.
  • There is but one explanation for the "Rapture" of Guvera channels: Germanprof was retagging Bach in church.
  • @amclark - I'd better use up my remaining emusic credit then quickly if I have only a few days left to do so....
  • I need to apologize to everyone. As amclark2 points out, the rapture is on Saturday with the universe scheduled to end on October 21, 2011. That is the date of my son's first birthday, so clearly my wife and I gave birth to the spawn of Satan. For that I apologize.

  • Never thought I'd be led down the path of destruction by an ad-based music giveaway site... actually that's pretty much what I always thought.
  • Greg, as long as you're using up those eMusic credits in advance of the rapture, I recommend hedging your bets...Even if it doesn't help you get into Heaven, you'll hear some "Amazing" music before you go, um, to the other place...
  • The poor coding monkeys behind me are working frantically, nearly there with the new site update, it's _massive_. A day, maybe two, maybe three [or four]{or five}. Just ironing out the last of the bugs now.

Also, I saw the rec for Lee Morgan here yesterday, had it streaming during the day, was actually a very enjoyable listen for work.
  • Glad you like Morgan. IMO, The Sidewinder is the epitome (though not necessarily the apex) of the Blue Note sound. Plus it's very funky.

@Rudie OK - I don't want to panic anyone but a couple of my channels are missing
It's OK, I already panicked when I saw I lost credits & channels...Victoria's Secret 2 credits were gone, and some others. Dang, that's what I get for waiting! Two of the reminaing channels have 3 credits now, though, so it's all still good.

Well. I already have The Sidewinder. And not near enough credits to start on the Beastie Boys now that I'm angry I didn't start DLing while the credits were there.
I think I will indulge in some more guilty pleasures of one-hit wonder type songs:
"Like A G6" by Far East Movement
    "A Little Respect" by Erasure
    "California Gurls" by Katy Perry
    "Sentimental Lady" by Bob Welsh
    Boo hoo, no Ke$ha.

    @dddanmar
Did I just notice you can browse through artist names? Or is it new? Either way, I just noticed it tonight.
  • @Katrina
https://www.guvera.com/browse/artists - yep, that one has always been there. Though I find it a bit boggling to wade your way through it, so many artists listed there that it almost becomes like a needle-haystack kind of problem. It has the little 'refine search' option there, though I really just tend to use the normal search functions.

One more day closer to the new site design too, been looking at the same design for over a year now so it will be nice to see a new style / functionality!
  • woo hoo! I'm excited to see it, too!
  • Please check back in 30 minutes, how long has it been like that?
  • @thom About an hour now ;) The new site is going up, just making 110% sure it's all going to work when we flick the switch on!
  • @dddanmar Cool! If you notice one IP address hitting refresh repeatedly it's probably me :P
  • HUZZAH!

After our poor development team has been slaving over hot, steaming computers for months, take a look at the newly polished Guvera site - let us know either by asking me here or email our support guys @ support@guvera.com , we'd love to hear some user feed back!

*goes looking for the booze cabinet*
  • dddanmar,
First impression: It's pretty damn hard to read/see my playlist with them being semi-transparent and all the background album pictures bleeding though. Oh, the background, just changed to one of your advertisers (Mark Nason) - alot easier to read my playlist. Not sure how any other backgrounds will impact the view. Turns out Geico isn't bad since it's not too busy/detailed.

Anyway, major overhaul... i'm having some mousing issues.. with the new mini pop-up windows and drop-down lists, if i don't hover just right when i try move my mouse over to them they disappear after leaving the area that made the appear in the first place. Most noticeable new red 'download history' button on the playlist ribbon thingy on the bottom of the screen.

Oh well... I gotta run.. .work to do and sleep to catch up on.
  • I got nothing with IE9. 0.8112.16421. I was logged in when the switchover happened...now, it's mostly a black page with some links to drag to listen, a home icon that changes into the little grabber hand but won't let me see my channels, and I can't submit any feedback nor search & see any music sob

It's OK in Safari 5.0.3, though.

One thing...I have one of the newish Win7 laptops with a short screen. The new layout causes a lot of scrolling when going through music searches. If there were 10 results only, then the 1-2-3-4-5-6-> to get to other pages, I'd like it more.

    Y'all get some sleep!

Hey....I really like the new search (edit:had to use Safari). The old one had a red thing that covered up album or artist all the time. This one is a LOT snappier and functional!
I think I'll get "Ice" by Camel.
  • I agree with Katrina, the new search looks excellent.

    Craig
  • Yes, the search is zippier. When I went into my wife's account and clicked on her Gilt Groupe channel I got a black screen. Other stuff seems to be working.
