Ok, well we have released what we think should fix up everything, and are about to go for a walk to the shops to get some sunshine. Search suggest should be fine, the timeouts should disappear etc. I'll be checking like a hawk for the next few hours, it would help if anyone brought up any major issues they noticed? {edit} post sunshine, everything still seems to be fine...
The search is back to working a lot better, samples are playing OK, and downloads are completing without a hitch!
In my quest for all things Dandy Warhol, I did find "Odditorium" by searching on the album title. It doesn't show up under the artist search. It's filed under the band members' names
(Brent_Deboer_Courtney_Taylor-Taylor_Peter_Holmstrom_The_Dandy_Warhols__Zia_McCabe)_256.mp3
On Kathleen Edwards, "Back to Me" has every track showing twice. The album cover shows a woman sitting in a field. One cover has brown grass and the other has green grass. The downoads are better on the brown side of the fence, haha.
Does that include the tracks that disappeared a while back? i.e. if a track has not reappeared now it means it won't? Or does this just refer to the Christmas bugs?
Heads up, something else changed on Guvera. I just played a song, and without asking me it posted to facebook that I was listening to that song. It can be disabled in the app settings on facebook (which I just did).
At least I was able to d/l a bunch this morning. Back to "Starting..." for downloads. Once or twice a day I can download for about 10 minutes, and then it's just constant timeouts the rest of the time.
@dddanmar, when I search for Officium by the Hilliard Ensemble, it come up under album, but when I click on the link in the search results I get taken to the Guvera home page. Is the album on Guvera and the search broken or is the album missing?
GP - I think what is going on there is one of track from that album is available over here in AU. It shows in your search results, but when you click there are no US records. I think... I'll email that on anyway.
What we did yesterday won't change the track availability yet, but I heard from one of the content guys and they are nearly ready to start the flood of new and fixed.
thom - however it should really have fixed any time out issues for everyone, will take a poke around and make sure it's not our server end to start off with.
Thanks to all those suggestions folks. So much click and store fun. I'm getting quite backlogged in my listening, well over a eighty new albums I've yet to listen to. Some of those are experimental web labels, a few from the local library, some from a present of Society of Sound, but mostly, that's ECM, Blue Note, and a load of mixed genres downloads from here.
@dddanmar - I'm taking a look into whether or not it's my own Internet connection. I'm having some other issues over here with FiOS and it's possible that they're related.
FWIW, this afternoon I had a download fail with a network error while other pages were fast and responsive - in other words my connection did not appear to be suffering from speed problems at the time, and the other dozens of tracks I downloaded worked fine.
If anyone is interested in reggae, there is a ton of great/classic stuff on Guvera I've been exploring the last few days. LKJ, Dillinger, Mighty DIamonds, Big Youth, Super Ape...it goes on and on. Working on the Lee Scratch Perry box set Arkology this morning. Also notice lots of the Trojan box sets are available...I'll be looking at those soon!
Katrina, many records on Rounder show up as doubles. Pick the first. Moreover, if you don't see doubles, be wary that the download will fail.
Good to know - thanks! I think I remember seeing posts about this before. This time around, when I tried to play the 2nd one, it rerouted itself to the 1st one & showed the 1st as the one playing.
For the last few days, I seem to be able to stream and download in the morning, but not in the afternoon or evening. Streaming doesn't work on any track, and I have stopped trying to download because my experience has been that when the tracks don't stream, they don't download and I lose a credit.
Being so smitten with The Oscar Peterson Complete Mercury/Clef Recordings I want to post a memo to check out the further adventures of the trio here -
EDIT - Arrgh! Rats! The one Album Only track isn't there, and of course is Album Only everywhere. Still finding this to be an issue on some releases, including this JATP/Tokyo below. Still no point in bemoaning a fistful of goodness just because it's not full.
Also I'm wondering if the material from this set is on the mega Complete JATP collection - Doh! Guessing not since this is from 1953 and the subtitle of the Complete is 1944-1949.
Other ramblings - got any gaps in your Motown collection? There's a lot to work with there. Also a ton of Chuck Berry, including The Chess Box (BT's Muddy post in Listening got me sniffing along the Chess trail). Golly - if you type in Chess and hit Show All under albums it is breathtaking.
Something odd: all the ads have disappeared from my spouse's account. Mine looks the same, with tiles for FB, Filtrate, etc., and we both received all the credits for the day.
Anyone who didn't get this when it came out, 'Glimmer' by Jacaszek is on Guvera and very worth checking out.
(That also means that at least some material from Ghostly International must be on Guvera....about to check further)
Re Oscar Peterson Trio, I've downloaded and enjoyed:
Great Connection
Hello Herbie
Lester Young with...
Oscar Peterson Trio At The Stratford Shakesperean Festival
Oscar Peterson Trio Plus One
Ben Webster Meets Oscar Peterson
Night Train
ETA, not much Ghostly International actually. These current GI artists are on Guvera:
HTRK
Choir of Young Believers
Phantogram
School of Seven Bells
Jacaszek.
@Rudie; I recently got Arkology, it's awesome. If you get a chance, searc for "The Complete UK Upsetter Singles Collection" - 4 volumes, multiple discs in each one!
Same thing, different day. Woke up this morning, got my new credits (thanks!), downloaded a bunch of songs (thanks!), went out, came back and found no streaming, and a test download timed out (no thanks!). I appreciate the free music, really, I do, but the inconsistency (or, to be fair, the consistent inability to download after the early morning) is frustrating. I am in the eastern USA.
A footnote to the Penguin Jazz Guide on Guvera lists:
if anyone should be interested in Incredible Jazz Guitar by Wes Montgomery, note that although the track "West Coast Blues" is missing (and album-only on every other music vendor), I think it can nevertheless be downloaded as part of a movie soundtrack album - search for it by song title and find it on an album of Woody Allen film music. (I am not guaranteeing it's the same recording, though the samples sound the same; I don;t have the one I can't download so I can't compare yet).
@GP - Coincidentally I went through the exact steps you note above this past weekend. I can't say for sure it's the same track, but it sounded to me like it "fit." My guess is that it is the correct track.

Now I just need time...
I'm in the US.

Remember Shakti, five long tracks over two CD's, if you are into hour long jazz infused raga jams.
dddanmar . . . Don't you need some European test people ?
:-p
- ETA: And McLaugh's Shakti, I'm green with envy.
