“Forgemasters – Shards Ov Light” is the original soundtrack to the Shaun Bloodworth short film “Forgemasters”.
This
21 minute ambient piece was performed and recorded live at Sheffield’s
Showroom Cinema as part of Festival of the Mind and is the last in a
series of short films created by Shaun Bloodworth celebrating
Sheffield’s industry, from small-scale handmade tools to large-scale
forging.
Music written, recorded, and mixed by Darren Harper, James Osland, Will
Bolton, Michael Cottone, Harry Towell, Edward Trethowan, Alexander
Roberts, Andrew Cooke, and Kevin Buckland.
released January 22, 2018
This compilation supports the launch of Rusted Tone Recordings; an
independent tape label specialising in ambient, drone, and experimental
music, based in Farnham, Surrey. 'Sampler Vol. 1' includes musical
contributions from a wide variety of artists scheduled for solo releases
throughout 2018 and well into the following year.
The label will be releasing the first full-length album, 'Glimmer' by
Spheruleus, on cassette tape and digital download, available 19/02/2018.
Now here is a bargain if you like ambient stuff. The label Dewtone Recordings currently has its entire digital discography at bandcamp priced at CAD $0.50 (that is not per album, it is for the entire catalog). That worked out at USD $0.42. And it's not NYOP - I wanted to pay a bit more but was not given the option.
But in addition to these two you get 36 other releases. So just over one cent per album. And there is some really nice stuff there too - I am very much enjoying the one by the splendidly named Snufmumriko at the moment.

Looks like this is no mistake - their website has this notice: Happy to share that we've opened our full discography to Bandcamp free of charge. We look forward future collaboration… https://t.co/3SIBpiw8pX.
Ambient is not my sweet spot, but that may change after this! Thanks GP.
From Bandcamp: Ambient field recordings collected across the Western Sahel. Sounds of desert oases, late night radio broadcasts, village calls to prayer, and riverboats drifting down the Niger river. A nice companion piece to the musical work from the blog, this an hommage to the sounds that don't always find their way onto records.

Thanks @Lowlife - I like good label samplers like this, they give me at least one little connection to what's going on in the alt/indie pop world. Polyvinyl sampler link
We have decided to try out a new model for our digital catalogue and are now offering almost all of our releases as pay-what-you-want via our Bandcamp page.
Download sales across the entire music industry are significantly dropping rapidly as streaming continues to increase. Something we've always tried to do at Gizeh is stay on top of an ever-changing musical landscape and the trends that follow thereafter, whilst being aware that industry movement doesn't have to mean the same at our small and independent level. That helps us and it helps our artists. It's clear that there is another shift happening with downloading at the moment and it's one that has prompted this trial. We plan on testing this model out for a month to see if it works and we'll take stock at the end of that period. The most recent releases and a select few from the back catalogue will remain at a fixed price for now.
We're always interested in what the people who support the label have to say so if you have a particular opinion on this subject please feel free to get in touch.
Thanks, ^^^ I couldn't help but notice that the all the albums are NYOP. I see lots of interesting albums including Quad Sax & Fall Of Saigon. Thanks indeed!

I just discovered n5MD has a digital division, called Enpeg. Not sure what "digital division" means, but there are a couple of NYOP samplers. They also have Mark Harris's early work (not NYOP) and some other interesting music to investigate...

ETA:
This incluides two albums that I paid for when they came out and still enjoy: the remix album from Porya Hatami's Shallow (My review here) and The Green Kingdom's EP Vapor Sequences. Those two alone are much more than worth the $0.50.

Snufmumriko - This Tide will Bring You Home
A shout out to the We Are All Ghosts label - I discovered this because I follow Thomas Mathie on bandcamp and he bought it.
The Low Point label has a 50% sale until Feb 18. Use code lowpoint50.
They are also selling off a bunch of ambient/post-rock CDs here.
