The *entire* 36 digital discography is now free/pay what you want until January 3rd 2020. This is to cebrebrate 10 years of making music under the 36 alias, plus an end to the decade as a whole. Grab whatever you like from 3six.bandcamp.com - if you're short on money, then it's my treat.
CHILL COLLINS: AN AMBIENT TRIBUTE TO PHIL COLLINS is EXACTLY what you
think it is. Twenty artists doing twenty ambient covers of solo Phil
Collins songs. It exists in the vague place between Music For Airports
and Music From The Disney Motion Picture "Tarzan" . . .
The eilean rec label set out with a plan to issue only 100 releases, plotted on an imaginary map. They just finished the series, and the last release is a 5-disc compilation for 12 Euros. 82 tracks, six and a quarter hours.
Always nice to see new ECM at Bandcamp, but I have to point out that all these, except the Circle, are available for FLAC download at Presto Jazz for less than half the cost of the download at Bandcamp - at least in Canadian dollars. (The Circle is not available except in vinyl at Presto.)

In the UK if you take the live conversion rate - ignoring what your bank or card might charge its £13 (euro 14.99) at Bandcamp compared to £12 at Presto, give or take a penny. And most of these releases were stalking the earth when the dinosaurs were still around - but I've bitched about that enough.
Here in the UK Circle Paris is £18.47 for the Flac which is pretty outrageous at Presto. Again about a £1 more at Bandcamp.

I assume these UK prices include VAT and that that is the difference between what you pay and what I pay here in Canada where Presto doesn't charge any taxes. The $10.75 CDN Presto wants for Jarrett's Koln Concert seems to exchange to €7 or £6.1
And this morning the Circle Paris Concert was available for download at Presto - at a whopping $32.25 CDN, just about what the Bandcamp price is.
Sahel Sounds just released Sahel Sounds Label Sampler 2 by Various Artists, check it out here.
"We are excited to share the latest Sahel Sounds Label Sampler. A mix of tracks from our latest releases, fan favorites, and deep cuts available as a "Name Your Price" download exclusively at our Bandcamp page." —Various Artists
...TXT Recordings just released Tensegrity - Vol.2, check it out here.
"With all future CD releases and sales on hold during lockdown, we wanted to do something that reflects the situation we are in.
The original Tensegrity compilation album, released back in 2015, encapsulated the idea of the structural principal based on a system of isolated components, never touching each other and under continuous tension.
Fabricated and constructed under lockdown and available as a free / name your price HD audio digital download, Tensegrity Vol.2 includes 11 individual tracks from the following artists as well as a 50 minute full analogue seamless mix by blackparticle.
Aairria, Off Land, Yu Hein, Ambidextrous, California Storm, Eric Taylor, Miruvor, Drøn, Lingua Lustra, Laroth and Futuregrapher.
Many thanks to all the artists involved... and to you for supporting the label through these difficult times.
** Don't forget you can still get 50% off any other purchase from the TXT digital catalogue by using the code "isolation50" at the checkout ! **" —...TXT Recordings
It's been six years since our last original compilation, and you would be forgiven for thinking that New Weird Australia was dead and buried. We thought so too. But pandemics seemingly have a knack for turning everything upside down. True is false, false is true. Good is bad, bad is good. And so it goes. . . .
And inside is the new outside. Or something. Which is why our new, free 26-track compilation comes in two halves - one for In, one for Out. Or wherever you want to take it. The compilation is called Solitary Wave and it's a two-volume compilation of new weird Australian music made, remade and reconsidered during a global pandemic.
Solitary Wave (Out) is a ritual for the displacement of energy.
Solitary Wave (In) is for calming the fuck down.
Solitary Wave includes music from all states and territories, with pristeen exclusives from Marcus Whale, Jannah Quill, Kcin, Fia Fiell, Happy Axe, Tzekin, Yunzero, Alex White, Wytchings, Lortica, Tutup Mulut, Jessica At Birth, Aqrn, Alexis Weaver, Eira and Invisible Prism.
The compilation additionally features music from recent releases by Bolt Gun, Moon Sign Gemini, Personal Touch, Nina In Ecstasy, Pattern Recognition Machines, Brainbeau, Cloud Sequence, Amby Downs, Brad Harkan and A Country Practice.
With artwork from Sydney artist Sophie Penkethman-Young, you can stream / download Solitary Wave now for free at New Weird Australia Bandcamp and Soundcloud.
If that wasn't enough to satisfy your weird gene, we are also restarting our podcast series. With over 100 episodes already under its belt, the podcast was originally born as a radio show on Sydney's FBi Radio, followed by two seasons running on Resonance Extra (under the Out From Under banner).
The new series kicks off with an interview with WA experimental singer / songwriter Rabbit Island, who recently released an iso-friendly collection of lo-fi improvised lullabies titled Songs For Kids. Look for 'New Weird Australia' wherever you get your podcasts, or listen at newweirdaustralia.com.au.
So it seems we're back from somewhere outside of things, and we'll be working our way into the next drop before too long. Even the website had a lick of paint, with the full archive of everything newly re-upped.
Even so, compilations still have their usefulness if you want to know what makes an entire label tick. More popular labels might well do NYP/free compilations, too, for all I know, but I think these more obscure ones actually need to be highlighted…
That's great many thanks. Some of my friends who use Bandcamp are not too happy with the ability to follow other users (i.e. be followed). I'm sure they say "Oh God; Dave's bought another 10 jazz albums!" or whatever, but I think it's a neat way to communicate for me and obviously a great way to encourage spending for them.
I’m wishing I could listen to someone else’s collection like a radio station. I can “spin” mine on random thru my Sonos app, but nobody else’s collection. That would be awesome.

Recommended NYP or free label v/a compilations (org. by genre)
If I’m going to spend $1 on music I’ve never heard of, I’m more inclined to try a full album by one artist or band as on labels like these: https://www.reddit.com/r/BandCamp/comments/garf1o/life_by_a_thousand_cuts_name_your_price_labels_on/
Even so, compilations still have their usefulness if you want to know what makes an entire label tick. More popular labels might well do NYP/free compilations, too, for all I know, but I think these more obscure ones actually need to be highlighted…
