It wasn't vicious, that's the problem. He called me lazy in a thread where I was giving my rec to confused, who I have a history of common songs with and weird postings that only he (confused) and I understand.
Yeah, it was vicious, now that I reflect. He had no fucking business butting in on that.
There is nothing that bastard can say to me to redeem himself.
I think he's too much of a loose cannon to be a plant. More like a know-it-all who take a passive-aggressive pride in pissing on someone else's parade. Being from Minnesota, I'll bet he voted for that wacko Michele Bachmann.
May I intrude to insert my opinion? Wanderer is a manager. He may work for eMusic, but I doubt it. He tends to see economics and business from a singular perspective: pushing people to perform and kissing up to customers as long as they open their wallets. I am constantly surprised by his ignorance of general economics as well his politicization of consumer behavior. And despite his proclamations, he's a cheapskate. I am sure he is happy to get a better product at the current price, but if "credits" (or whatever they call them) go to 60 cents, he'll cry the loudest. After all, it is his privilege to the price, not everyone else.
Okay, I was bad this morning. I had to go put my 2 cents in. My apologies for any darkness that rubs off on the exiles. I posted more this morning than I usually do in at least a month.
Katrina, don't think I'm approving him in my last post to him. It was sarcasm, and I'm not sure he got it. He responded as if it were a compliment, so maybe he can be sarcastic, too. He's getting picked at by others today. I had a 1:00 pm appointment, and just caught up over there. I can now look at him with enough amusement to let him go. For the moment, at least.
Well, actually, Nereffid, that was the exact thought I had after reading his response, but I used the other f word. I thought better of saying that to him; decided it was time to let it go.
TimMason -- my response did not mean that I agreed with his comment to you. No way!
Funny you should mention hominy. I remember my mom serving it, and I loathed it. Yet I have a hankering for it every 20 years or so. Maybe I'll go buy some later today.
Howdy--I usually just lurk on the eMu board and do not say much at all. I don't think he's an eMu plant, but I have a theory that he does work for Sony. He's about the only one who keeps telling everyone to love the crap that eMu is suddenly forcing on its users and how it will benefit everyone, blah, blah, blah. Anyhow, just my little theory.
Just catching up on a few threads on that place. No, I'm not complaining. Just the opposite. Just gotta say that Katrina is the Queen of the dive-bombing, strafing comments. She has me laughing out loud.
sony plant is also good odds. gone are the days if emu setting its price and claiming they are bringing back paying consumers...this is sony's price, without a doubt...i mean how many posts have their been about "i can get this for the same price at amazon"
what thread are you guys kickin' it to him on? i've given up the boards but i'll peak for snicks.
This one just doesn't go away. Katrina's 10:52 am post today (7/5/09)is the one that had me laughing. There are a couple more, but this one will suffice. Don't want you to overdose.
I never really believed he was an eMusic plant, but the idea that he's working for Sony makes more sense. Unlike an eMu plant, he need not make any friends with the long time members because the success or failure of eMusic at this point means virtually nothing to Sony. It's also no big deal to criticize eMu heavily for everything except the Sony catalog. Then he started making threads about "guilty pleasures" and "how giddy are you?"
All of this made me suspicious. And then he recommended someone who may or may not be interested in jazz or classical to look further into the Sony catalog. Yet he's continually stated that he's really only into rock/pop. So he's suggesting that they look at Sony even though he has no clue if anything from them in those categories is good!
Yes, Thom, very amusing. I really have gotten past being irked at the guy. He just can't help himself, and I think that's why Katrina's comment got me. Truthfully, I have no sympathy for him. None whatsoever. Some of the folks still "kickin' it to him" are so clever, and that's so much more satisfying than the direct insults.
@ CaptainWrong; I have toyed with that idea too. Don't believe it either but I've toyed with it.
@ thom - glad you liked - some serious sleep deprivation fueled that one.
personally I just think he's a soul-crushing professor type; he said something to somebody once about them being a perpetual c-student; I think he's just stumbled on to a place where he can be mean to a lot of people, and he can always win because he's in the center of the new target demographic. He also usually backs down from a logic based intelligent fight; he'd rather just hand out more bloody noses.
I'm generally more of a cynic than a paranoid though.
Hey has anybody else checked out that new Black Moth Super Rainbow? I absolutely love. But I'm a sucker for robot voices.
i do not think it's yancey...he's a nice guy at heart and has interceded once or twice when the waters were stirred by a hand called animosity...i think in the ihatebklynd thread, but i could be off on that one.
i know everyone is going to think i'm whacked, but i felt like i had "read" wanderer's style before...and at one point i pushed that he take off the mask. stylistically, he was very close to jazzmine in his early work - in fact, i looped back wiht bklynd to offer "i think jazzmine is your bklyndhater".
with that said, i also tripped across some poster - purpleoctopus??? - that i never interacted with who had a similar style. not that it means yes or no - i'm offering that style reading is not conclusive...however, wanderer has used a few phrases, meant to be "throwing your own words in your face" that only a very long term boarder would use...i.e. "elders" was used at one point and i knew right away that it was a reference to an old thread (in the early days of gsg's board) called "gather the elders".
then again, that tedandk8t guy used my "clink" - throw him into the conspiracy rather than use it as disproof. if nothing else, his timing was suspect (it put us all in defend emu mode)...
bjb - great to see you - you gonna set up camp here??? hope so.
@amclark2 - I agree overall. And he really does disappear whenever someone really gets him. For 2 months he constantly threw into threads about all of the disappearing labels from the past 2 years. I would counter with numerous examples of new labels added and ask for a response... still waiting.
And yes, the new BMSR is awesome. Even my wife was enjoying it, and she shies away from much of my music (mainly a classic rock gal). I was holding off on the expanded reissues of their first 2 in case they got the 12 credit limit. No such luck, but they'll have to wait for another refresh anyway...
I saw that attempt at a thread and was immediately tempted to blow my cover and post:
WHORE!
(Or maybe he is just a narcissist who just loves his own voice. Maybe he's even lurking over here, reading all our posts about him and touching himself in his special place)

WHY I STARTED THIS THREAD
can't forgive or forget
God forbid that he finds this seedy coffeehouse where all the cool kids hang out. Do you reserve the right to refuse service to anyone?
Except I made a thread by mistake
Katrina rocks, unlike Wanderer the FUBAR
ooops
Thanks for the extra entertainment K!

He's such a frigging narcissist.
