While the Baggerhorn is a fine instrument, it does not compare to my Laundrytubaphone, which consisted of a 20" plastic laundry tub, the associated drain trap, and an assortment of pvc pipe sections and fittings. This instrument was also an idiophone that could be played by striking with the hand or with beaters or drumsticks. For some strange reason, my wife insisted I destroy this delightful instrument in order to provide a place for her washer to drain. It's still playable as a percussion instrument in its current configuration, which allows the player to vary the tone by adjusting the water level.
"This avant-garde trio consisting of Nels Cline (guitar), Andrea Parkins (electronics, accordion, piano) and Tom Rainey (drums) brings a new exploration of hard sonic universes. The record requires some effort at first, but the more you've listened to it, the more astonishing it sounds. Andrea Parkins is responsible for the major part of the sonic explorations, with Nels Cline reacting to it and Tom Rainey accentuating and chasing the whole thing forward. This music is impossible to classify. This is no jazz, no rock, no free improv, but a new style which integrates the three genres.

A guy I used to know is one of the owners of ILLECT Recordings, and put this out. Good indie hip hop (although I prefer some of ILLECT's other albums).
Hmm. I am not sure if that is a recommendation or not. Will have to digest the concept a little. Makes me think of death metal.

I bought the later - and better - Nothings of the North before this, and that made it harder to like this at first. But it's growing on me.
@Germanprof: 'twas other people's taxes, so tortured, soul-wrenching motifs were not required. I've still got EVR on, but I'm going to yank the plug in a few minutes and put that Yellow Ostrich record on.
Of course, Lenlow created the definitive tax preparation song: To the Taxmobile!
lol. I found myself imagining an album whose promotional material stated that it was excellent music for preparing taxes, and wondering who would go "really? cool, I gotta have that."
Electronic Film Music includes two lyric, eerie and innovative filmscores, for the film of J.P. Sartre's play No Exit and Lloyd William's avant-garde film Line of Apogee by the master of the Columbia-Princeton electronic music sound. Also employs vocal, animal and environmental sounds.

My internet connection has been off since last Wednesday evening - great to have it back, so much to catch up on, and that is before I look at my emails! I do now realise how much I use the internet nowadays. Most days the computer is on all day. For the first day I was almost bereft without the web, besides the hours I spent sorting it out since then
